I believe that the list was started on 21st july ('coz I started it!) - and by that time the event was already sorted out (but not necessarily 'open' to the general public)....

... admittedly, very few details were known - and it wasn't clear what allocation of tickets would be made to LEC (if any). As such, the list was as much of a 'who is interested' as anything else.

As we all appreciate, many lists exist, some are more of a committment than others, and some evolve as they progress.

I believe that what started as a "I'm interested" list has thus evolved into "I'm coming" and now into "I'd like one of the 20 allocated tickets please"

I’m waiting to find out about factory tours, it would be good if we could go as a club group. We could start another list!

Dave, on the Lotus70 website in the club area it says a pitch for 20 cars will be provided and 40 tickets. So even if you didn't display 20 Elans would it still mean you can have 40 peeps representing the club regardless of who has a guest ticket, (which is for one person only)

Now, don't hold me to this, but I'm led to believe that there is a 'bit of a do' at Dunston Hall Hotel. Last time, Bibs arranged a meal which was optional (I didn't go as I had an invite to a BBQ at the factory, arranged by Mike K) - then a few drinks in the bar (which is open to the public anyway, but we had a private room). This was attended by Mike K and Peter Stevens (designer of the M100) who gave us a bit of an insight into the development of both the M100 and the S4 Esprit. Both designed by Stevens, and Mike K was the Project Engineer for both models. Basically, a good oportunity to learn a lot about the Lotus history as regards to 'our' cars - and a photo oportunity if you wanted it.

Mike is going again this year (according to Tony, his son), I don't know about Peter.

If anyone has a copy of the Hughes book on the Elan (or similar, as other books also exist), it may be worth taking along as when asked, both were only too happy to sign their pictures in the book I took and pose for pictures with Angie.

That will leave the Saturday evening to worry about (unless the 'big' do is going to be on the Saturday, in which case we worry about the Friday). No idea at the moment, but I'm sure we can use a local contact to suggest something suitable - I'm sure that there are plenty of Chinese/Indian/Italian/Other restaurants which would be happy to take a booking fairly locally and as central as we can sort out for anyone who wishes to partake....

.... I'm sure that the LEC social secretary will see us right (Clemo ).

That said, if you want to find somewhere suitable, then I'm sure we can start a list (I'm happy for a veggie option if there is a nice place which caters for such).

I have seen that, but until Bibs gets back from his hols and deals with all the 'needy' questions on TLF, we are just patiently waiting to see what tickets Trevor gets sent - hopefully we will be in a better position to deal with whatever the situation is in a week or 2.....

....Chip, whilst you're here, do you know of a suitable venue for a meal on the Friday (or Saturday) - should we need to book anything?

One place that comes to mind straight away would be the Bird in Hand at Wrenningham.
It is very close to the factory and many of you would probably know of it.
Lotus memorabilia on the walls and a large car park.
They do have a room that can easily accommodate forty people to sit down.

Good news is bibs is now back from holiday and will start the manual sorting of tickets on Thursday.

Re eating somewhere, a lot of people are staying at Dunston Hall and a few at nearby Mangreen Hotel. Are TLF organising a meal one night or are we going to do our own thing? I also have non M100 but Lotus friends around too, so slightly split loyalties.

Ok, back from a few days in France and spent the last hour catching up on posts on both LEC and TLF.

As you say Steve it's a good job we're civilised on here.

Dave, excellent information and organisation.

I'm playing the waiting game and I have emailed and pm'd Bibs so hopefully he will respond once he goes through all
the correspondence that has been winged his way. Once I hear about our allocation and any other details I will let
everyone know.

We (Lyn and I) only managed to get Friday night in Dunston Hall (Lyn's making the most of the facilities at Dunston Hall
on the Saturday), so we will be travelling home after all the events. Not sure what our plans may be for Friday but suspect
dinner at Dunston Hall could be a little manic! Might be the only option though as local hostelries may be manic too.

I’ve just received confirmation from Lotus70 (Bibs I suppose) that I have a ticket for Hethel. They say that the actual ticket will be posted to me in early September. I’ve just heard from Archie that he now has his ticket confirmation too.

Chris - it is a multi-purpose list (with little point to it, apparently).

We are still waiting for confirmation of our allocation - only once we have a definite number can we really worry about where/who they go to, or if we can get a quantity of the 'Park & Ride' tickets for anyone else.

As such, I'm not overly worried if the number on the list exceeds the 20 or not - all will be sorted out in due course.

Just because you are on the list (or not) has no definitive bearing on you getting a LEC golden ticket at this stage. (but it's good to be interested, and to keep info up to date where we can).

Kicking myslef for being slow off the blocks last Friday, I applied too late and missed out.

My local dealer (Westover Sportscars in Poole) knows nothing abut the event so no joy there for a ticket! Can I get added to this list as a reserve?

Well that's 2 mods who have taken a swipe at me so it seems I have done some upsetting. Sorry about that.
I'm not going to get upset though. I'll explain things the way I saw them.

Early on in the thread (page 2 I think), I asked what the list was for because nobody knew any details of the event. Nobody answered this, so the logical assumption was that nobody really knew.

It could not have been for tickets because nobody knew about them & nobody suggested that there may be some.
If we're going to be there, then we'll be there. No need for a list for that.
Was it to gauge numbers to find a camp site for us all or a block booking in a hotel?
Was it for a Friday night curry to make sure we could all fit in the restaurant?
Was it for a Saturday morning convoy so we would not leave anyone behind?

Later on (after the list had grown to 19), information was posted that LEC had 20 tickets, so this list became an allocation list. It gained a purpose for something which previously never existed.
