Lotus 70th Birthday, Friday Night meal - Dunston Hall Hotel

Postby dapinky » Sat 08.09.2018, 14:16

There has now been an announcement on TLF that they are organising a BBQ at Dunston Hall on the evening of Friday 28th September.

There will be exclusive use of the 'Fontaine Suite' (which has its own bar), with the venue opening at 1800 hrs - food served from 1900 hrs, either on the lawn outside, or inside if the weather is typically British.

It is an 'open' invite, but tickets will be limited (but I don't know how limited, so don't shoot the messenger!)

Link HERE

Whilst I appreciate that either the time, venue or price (£25 a head with 5p change) may be something which prevents attendance, I am purely "putting it out there" for your information, and to give you the link to follow should you wish to join in.

....As there is a definite time, venue, event - perhaps a list is in order

1. Pinky (ticket paid for via TLF)
2. Clemo (ticket paid for via TLF)
3. Fredjohn (ticket paid for via TLF)
4. Mrs Fredjohn (ticket paid for via TLF)
5.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Sorry Dave, but we haven't actually booked this yet as was waiting for views from various friends. The general consensus was that Dunston Hall reputation was not that good and that £25-5p was a lot for a BBQ. So we have decided to give the BBQ a miss but pop in later for chit chat etc after eating. We can still organise something together for Saturday night though.
Sorry if this bu***rs you up Dave/Clemo. Have amended list accordingly.

John,
Not a problem - after your text earlier, I replied, but heard nowt back, so just made a presumption that you and Grace would be attending.....

..... I spoke to Clemo, and we decided that although there are alternatives to eating at Dunston, by the time we've found somewhere and got a taxi, we may as well walk and have a nice evening at one venue with beer

(Oh, and if anyone wants them, I now appear to have a couple of spare BBQ tickets as I sent paymnent for 4 to Bibs  )

I might have one of them tickets than Dave. Although the price is a bit steep, I guess the alternative is spending the evening in my hotel room on my own.

Are we going to meet up in the car park or something, or just go in and hope to spot someone you recognise?

I'll be walking down from Mangreen House Hotel, and likely to be there at about half past six (ish) - dependent on whatever happens during the drive down!

(probably straight to the bar).

Do you still have spare tickets Dave? I’ll buy one from you if you do. In staying in Dunston Hall...I’m usually so organised!

There should be at least one spare place at the BBQ, as neither my wife nor I will now be attending. I do not have any tickets - I don’t believe that there are any. I think Bibs just has provided names to the hotel. Anyway, I contacted bibs when I knew I wouldn’t be there and he thinks he can use one of mine, but the other is spare. Just turn up and say that you are John Wham (or Maggie - up to you dear). He says he’s had to pay Dunston in full, so no refunds. I’ve paid and I hate the idea of Dunston hall getting my money for nothing!
