THE LEC STICKERS THREAD: By Appointment to Kathryn

Postby Saltire » Tue 29.01.2019, 23:44

Following Kathryn’s suggestion, I find I have volunteered to organise the production of some Official LEC Stickers. I’m thinking two types:

    a) circular “Cat on Skates” with LotusElanCentral.com around the circumference. Sticky on the reverse
    b) rectangular black/white/red with a silhouette of the top of the car like the old shirt design. Not self-adhesive, but designed to adhere to glass
So, firstly, does any of this infringe any known copyright? Secondly, does anyone have any original artwork (or better design ideas)? And thirdly, if you’re interested, please use the list below to give me an idea of quantities and shapes. Once I have a rough idea of numbers, I’ll be able to give final costs and will then ask you to confirm your order.

Even if you’re not coming to Castle Combe, you can still order and I’ll post out to you. Costs will include production cost plus a small donation to LEC funds, (plus postage if appropriate).

The Stickers List
    1. Kathryn: 1 round, collect at CC
    2. Saltire: 1 round, 1 rectangular, collect at CC
    3. Clemo: 2 round tbc, collect at CC
    4.
    5.

I have hi-res copies of everything. I re-worked the copies of the copies of the Lotus ones and the silhouette is my own design so LEC have free access to them all… I can also knock together some customised ones:

I made a vector graphics version of our famous cat on skates a while ago and it's rather close to the original (in my opinion at least).
Of course being a vector image, you can print it any size you need without any resolution issue.
I made it with inkscape so it's probably better to view the svg with it (but apparently the current firefox displays it nicely now)

For the avoidance of doubt . . . We’ll size the round sticker for the tax disc holder . . . If someone can tell me the diameter of a tax disc holder as I don’t have one any more!

Thanks to Geoff and Giniw for the offer of graphics. Darren my supplier normally has a pretty quick turn-round on these things, so let’s spend a few days publishing possible designs on this thread. Then we’ll select 1, 2 or 3 to take forward, and I’ll collect the artwork. I can find out prices, those interested can confirm, and I’ll press the button on the order. Does that sound good to everyone?

So, can those who have designs please display them in a comment to this thread so they’re all in one place, and we’ll get the Great Sticker Run under way!

I have designed something in my head, I’ll try and sketch something out later.
As for the above suggestions I’d prefer silhouette to cat on skates, and it doesn’t have to be round - just my personal preference!
Hey, I’ll be wanting a t-shirt next!

I have an idea as well, but also limited artistic ability! I'll give it a go if I get a chance!

As others have said, there are a few people with lots of the artwork...... (including me).

I have also changed a few in the past for other uses, and retained them, so if you want them i can send them in high res.

Here are a couple of 'variations' on the theme which I can supply in any format you need (as long as Photoshop allows it!) so they can be easily altered.

Silhouette Right.jpg

The silhouette can be easily reversed if needed, and the dates on the top one are for the 20 years of LEC - but can easily be amended to reflect 30 years of Elan M100......

...... whatever you want to do is fine by me.

Thanks, all; this seems to be gathering a bit of momentum. I didn’t actually apply to become the Regalia Secretary :o

We still have a decent lead time, so I’m going to let designs keep flowing in, and then we’ll have a democratic vote.

And then I’ll decide

Here is an image of one of the original LEC stickers. 9.5 cm diameter. Sticky on back so they had to be stuck on the outside of the windscreen

Almost as rare as hen's teeth. But I know someone who still has a few (hundred)

And this original sticker is now so rare that I could easily triple my money on EBay. Especially as it is coming up to its 10th anniversary and the colours don t fade like the cat on skates

I think I’ve still got a Clan McElan t-shirt around somewhere. But it seems to have shrunk in the wash as it is a little tight now.

I’m surprised nobody has asked Saltire to look into getting anniversary t-shirts made...
