I have had one other enquiry since the list closed, from roy666. He was only a few hours late confirming, and I gave him the supplier details to see if he could jump on the end. We’re well past the closing date now, and the hoses ordered will be into manufacturing. You may want to contact roy666 by PM to see if he was successful, and, if not, perhaps you can start another list with him . . .

All those who've ordered: I had a message this morning from Chris at Merlin Motorsport:

Hi Jonathan,
I have been chasing Samco on these kits, keeping an eye on what's going on.
In usual Samco fashion, it's incredibly vague but I have made them aware of how important it is that they are here for the 25th. It is apparently on their "urgent" board but urgent to you and me is not the same as a Samco urgent!!
I will chase them again next week, reiterating how important it is to get the kits here before the 25th.
Don't worry Jonathan, I have not and will not forget about you.

It sounds as though Merlin are on the case and have it well under control. As soon as I hear any more, I'll let everyone know.

Good News, Team!

The 12 sets of hoses have arrived with Merlin at Castle Combe. They are open tomorrow, and Chris (our Merlin contact) is working tomorrow, so I have arranged for the hoses to be collected direct from the onsite shop.

Please do not try to pick up your hoses direct without speaking to me first.

I will go there at the start of the day, and work out how we're going to distribute them, but Chris doesn't know who's ordered, what colour they ordered, and what they've paid for. Give me some time to sort it out, and you should be leaving tomorrow with your hoses in the boot. Merlin also have alloy extension pipes, if you have an S2 and need one - I have a pattern which we can use to make sure we get the right size.

Looking at the language etc.. it looks like they've been written by a couple of people with not much to do. Look how many times the sentences start with "My wife and ii" (note small i) or "My husband and i", "My partner and i" ......

And I only browsed the first 20 or so. Life's too short to read all 7719 although, if you've got nothing better to do than sit round a Spanish swimming pool all day with a jug of Sangria for company, it's probably a damn good read

Presumably SEs have to re-use the old pipe and someone told me this was a 16mm to 19mm reducer but it's hard to tell from ab2cv's picture from way back whether it is a reducer or (as it looks to me) just a straight through connector which Merlin stock. Could anyone who's fitted Samcos confirm what it is?

So, I finally got around to having a look at this with my trusty measuring stick and the answer is that you need a 16mm pipe connector - no reducer is necessary:
The bifurcated pipe ID is ~16mm.
The 'straight' pipe has an ID of ~16mm at one end and ~19mm at the other end.
The 'straight' pipe connects to the recirculating pump which has an OD of ~19mm.

I reckon that anyone who has used a reducer has shoved a 19mm OD pipe into a 16mm orifice. In 10+ years of Samcos, has nobody else noticed this?

Sigh. I've NEVER understood why there are two sets of hoses SE or S2. All the things connected to the pipes are in the same place and are the same size!

According to the parts manual there is a connector IF a/c is installed.

Not all my Samco hoses stayed on the shelf. I've fitted 2 sets and in both cases I ADDED a straight connector because the longer of the 2 arms off the bifurcated hose was not long enough.

..just off to dust my purple set

And 3" is a bit long, so what about an "Aluminium Radiator Hose Connector / Pipe / Joiner 16 mm OD x 50 mm Long" from complete-radiator-supplies on FleaBay for £2.99 incl. P&P? The edges were a bit sharp but easily rubbed down.

I watched an episode of Car SOS last night when the owner of a SaaB 900 ignnored his worn hoses and blew it up. The wisdom of thrashing a 25 yo car you've just bought (and don't know) aside, it has got me recalling this group buy and wondering if you can still get hold of a set of Samco hoses for an S2?
