Should also mention how gratifying it was that everyones fans were working as the convoy queued up to get shuffled into the parking area :D

:D What a fabulous weekend !
We had a great time (well I did  )
Thanks to everyone who made this weekend as good as it was
I think it far exceeded expectations of what was expected, and to think last year we thought it would be good to get 30 cars to turn up !
Getting 100 M100's is a testament not only to the organisers, but also to the love of a truly great car :burnout:
Here's to keeping these cars on the road !

Well what a grand entrance we made! A big thank you to everyone ... what a great weekender .
100 .. yes 100 M100's in attendance and boy did we make our presence known. Whilst waving you all in from the very impressive convoy ( Thank you Enright / Geoff ) i could hear the general chatter of the other Lotus owners saying things like " I've never seen so many of them" and "they are going to need the whole carpark if there is any more " So yes we got noticed alright . So much so that Alan Morgan at Club lotus had to give us two parade laps as there was too many of us to put on the circuit at once.

A Big thank you to Jonathan who we leant on very heavily for all his local knowledge and contacts that helped make the day come together very smoothly ( though behind the scenes had plenty to deal with )

Neil who became chief chauffeur . Though he thoroughly enjoyed himself , gave long hours to run our vips around.

Nchase & S2 , Trevor & Merlot , Justin & IB10 for letting us use their cars as show cars . They represented us well and looked amazing.

MPX Mike for his hot laps , Edward for the use of his car for Barrie . Trevor again for his use of car with MJK .

Pinky & Sarah for their outstanding catering and everyone that contributed towards it with their time and tea bags .

And of course our Superb guests Mike Kimberley , Barrie Wills , Philippe Adams and an added bonus of the true gent that is Warren King who all made an outstanding contribution to entertain us .

But most importantly YOU , every one of you who turned up and made the day possible . A gathering is nothing without the people and us lot at LEC get a real buzz out of just standing back and watching everyone chatting , smiling , eating cake .

Who would have thought that a 30 year old car could bring so many people together and a permanently free to use website of 20 years would become such a great social hub. It has grown from small car fixing club into a yearly social club ...

Everyone take a bow and pat yourselves on the back .
We all did this .

OH and Geoff . So many phone calls and emails and he still nicked my LEFT HANDED TEA MUG ...

( apologies to anyone i have not mentioned by name , you have not been forgotten , I'm just trying to write down all of a busy weekend).

Till next time .

Wow what a weekend and well worth the (750+ mile round) trip down from sunny Edinburgh. I've not seen a turnout or event to match that since the halcyon days of Donington Park circa 2005.

Big thanks to all the organisers, VIP's and everyone who made the effort to come along - oh and get well soon Peter Stevens! The weekend reminded me also just how much I love the spirit of LEC - the M100 just seems to attract a great bunch of people who are all so genuinely passionate, knowledgable and enthusiastic about the car.

I thought I'd be sad about selling my Elan at the weekend but actually it was a great sendoff and as I've already decided I'll get another, it's only a temporary blip. In the meantime, will LEC will be offended if I rock up to the next event in an Esprit? :bonk: (not convinced it would perform the same trip with equal measures of comfort or reliability as the Elan!)

Alan,
As Phil turned up in an Evora, Neil turned up in a Jaguar, and I have previously attended in a Vectra, nobody would care what you arrived in, as long as you get there somehow

I'd like to also add my thanks. Its my first outing to an M100 gathering and it was an excellent day. Great weather, excellent turnout, great to chat to so many of you, good to see so many well turned out cars. Good also to see how the car handled the circuit. I shot video of the whole convoy and the parade laps. But unfortunately there is far too much shaking to share this. I'll see if I can create a short montage to share but I'm doubtful.
This last few days is an intense motoring week for me - a visit to Prodrive, Club Lotus/M100 weekend, Castle Combe again on Wednesday with another club and another of my cars!
Great fun all round. :D

Another vote of thanks to our organisers - terrific job! If only you had been wearing name tags I could have kept track of who is who..still a mystery to me (or is that just my age?)! Lovely cake too. All the best from Simon and the (only?) Azure S2 on the day?

:agree: to all of the above! Thanks to all that worked so hard to organise this great event!
Fantastic day, it went so quickly I didn’t get a chance to look at many of the other cars or any of the action on track. I’ve been a member of LEC for a quarter of its existence and it’s great to feel a part of something - it’s the people that make that.
And thanks again Mike for the passenger ride!

Which one? S4 and later interiors are rather conformable actually. I can't comment on the earlier versions.
The ride is less forgiving on a bad road though. Not that the car moves a lot but the irregularity on the road are much more noisy when encountered.

I have been driving a good old K11 (1994) 1L 16v* for ever 8) :-D (I have even driven it hard on a track during lunch time when I was the official photographer on a track day event  )
:burnout:

Anyway, I am happy for you all that all went well and you enjoyed the day :-)
I wish I could have been there!

I always enjoy Castle Combe but that one was by far the best. The day seemed to disappear.
Mike & Barrie's insight into the development was fantastic. If any non-owners were in there, it may well have tempted them to get one.
The organisation which went into the evening meal was great although the restaurant seemed to struggle. I thought they would have been prepared for us in order to get us fed & prepare the tables for another sitting, not keep us waiting for 2 hours.

The fast laps with Mike were great. He hit just about every turn-in point & apex, which allowed us to pass a lot of faster cars quite easily. It was exhilarating, even from the passenger seat.

Thanks to everyone who put in effort to make it happen.

Fantastic job.

Our special VIP's seemed to enjoy it as much as us. I doubt they would ever have seen 100 M100's together, not even at Hethel. I never, ever thought the Castle Donington record would be smashed. What a great achievement by both organisers and participants.

Sunday breakfast was good. Less people, more intimate and some great stories and anecdotes from Mike and Barrie. Can't wait for the book Barrie :smt023

Quiet at the other end...

The bloke in the tent next to me was compression testing his Honda C90 without and exhaust on it all night long .

That would have been very handy if I had actually had a new thermostatic switch to fit!! :)

{Both on order being delivered.)
