The Kitty-fiddler's report

Postby GeoffSmith » Wed 29.05.2019, 12:01

As some of you are aware, when I took on the kitty from Sy Vickers many years ago it was apparent that he had been selling his stock of Elan spares just to keep the site fees paid. I refused to continue like that and we embarked on some serious fund raising which resulted in the kitty recovering and it has been in very good health these last few years largely due to TheLotusForums hosting the site for free.

The admin team had been contemplating what do do with the kitty for some time and took the decision to use it to fund the Castle Combe event and to try and lay on a memorable show. Although the expenditure on accommodation and meals for the VIPs, merchandise etc. carried some risk, I am delighted that the donations made so far have taken us back into the black and we still have some highly desirable LEC mementos left over for the future.

As we're basically a bunch of like-minded people who are prepared to stand around in a field kicking tyres, I think we made a pretty good job of it and roll on the next one.

In this day and age where FaceBook is killing off forums and meet up groups, I am extremely grateful for the efforts that go into keeping alive and driving forward this forum. I for one have no interest in trusting Mark Zuckerberg with any of my data, so without this forum there would be no window for me into this wonderful world of M100's. Long may it continue!

Exactly why I won't post there, If people can't be bothered to post here, I can't be bothered to reply. (Besides I don't want anyone that I know hearing that we drove in colour order to CC.)
in response to FB
No mate you have completely the wrong A/C compressor - That's what happens if you read a cross reference in one place and then discuss on FB
and
No the seatbelt doesn't mount to the chassis it mounts to the seat runner, the outrigger and the B post and yes the composite structures near to the mountings are structural.
.....and that's just this week.

I have benefited greatly from this site/forum and the people who put hours into it - I get nothing from FB.

Roll on the next one can we have LEC wine glasses next time?

Couldn't agree more. And that's why I have, and never will do FB. It's much better to speak, search, discuss etc... on thus medium and, even better, to speak face to face at events like CC

Then Dapinky will be able to complain about pouring the Champagne rather than making the tea.

I had exactly zero firm orders, and in the press of other things, I dropped the ball. The offer is still there, and I’d certainly have a couple, so it just needs someone to start a LIST :poke:
