gummi pflege

I went out and encountered a couple of hours of solid straight down rain and only had the very occasional dip from either side roof seal . I would like to keep the seals as good as possible for as long as possible. Someone said use gummi pflege. I've never heard of it. Does anyone use it and which make is best?

I use it - it’s basically a water-based rubber conditioner:

Mine came from Amazon, where there are several makes available.

It’s fine to use it on the window seals, but remember that it won’t stop leaks if you have gaps in the rubber. You need something like Sikaflex or Tiger Seal for that.

It will help if you want to make the existing rubber more flexible and stop it from drying out and cracking.

Thanks Saltire I am happy with the performance of the seals. I just want to keep them as good as possible for as long as possible ie keep them flexible and stop them drying out so I will get myself some asap.

I use silicon grease to smear over the rubber. The car didn’t let in a single drop of water during all the horrible rain we had recently.

I've used it, I was told that it protects against UV.

I've been using it for a couple of years.... don't know how good it is, but it seems to help (by keeping the rubber a bit more supple/slippery).

It was recommended to me for the roof seals on my Astra CC, so I got some when we first had that car. i also put it on the door/window rubbers of the VW and the Elan.

It is basically 'just' a silicone grease in suspension, and easy-to-apply bottle.

Originally developed for harsh weather conditions, so never really took off in the UK - but every little helps.

I've used that exact product on my other drop-top, to good effect. In my experience, gummi pflege is less messy than silicone grease, and doesn't attract dust the same way. Unfortunately, Smaug's window drip seals were cracking when I got him and it's only gotten worse over time.
