An evening with Barrie Wills - book launch & M100 Talk.

Having met Barrie Wills at our LEC 20th / Elan 30th at Castle Combe this year it seems this guy who has been written out of the Mark Hughes book has a lot to talk about . So much so that his book soon to be released '45+ Years Without John DeLorean... and a little more with', the prequel/sequel to 'John Z, the DeLorean & Me... tales from an insider" which has a rather large section about our M100.

Barrie "bombshell" has lots of insider knowledge much of which he cannot publish but is quite happy to let things slip out as long as nobody is recording it . Absolute gold. He is also not afraid to say it how it is as i recently found out when i got involved in an online exchange of words between him and an Ex Lamborghini CEO . Blimey does he tell it how it is.

So the point i am getting to.
When his book comes out he is more than happy to do an exclusive US LOT ONLY "evening with Barrie Wills " to talk about his time banging heads together to get our M100 to production - and if we care to ask his stint at Delorean and heading up the buy out of Delorean also stints at Reliant , Jaguar and Lambo.

He has left it in my capable hands what ever that may be. So with that in mind i would like to gauge the "who's in" for this potential LEC night out.

I would suggest doing it near to the land / local pub of Barrie as getting a beer or 2 into him is a great way of getting the best stories .
Though he has said if it is to be held somewhere central to middle earth then his is happy as long as we pay his digs .... fair enough .

Interested.
i enjoyed a lot Barry and Mike's presentation at castle combe. i wouldnt mind a few hours travel to meet the LEC lot and get a few more stories out of barry. adding to that some good food and drink will make it a nice day out.

I think that is correct as it is the possesive of Lotus, a bit like sheep's eyes..

Hope he does not repeat the error of saying Lotus started in Hornsea, Essex !

Some interesting bits in the book, from my perspective. A section on Kirkstall Forge - When I started with my firm in 1992, my room had a selection of old books which had, basically, been dumped there. One of them was The History of Kirkstall Forge. I never read it, of course, but this is the first reference I have seen to it in all these years. I wonder where the book is now.

The second interesting bit is the section on Taiwan because I am a regular visitor there. I was there three weeks' ago, in fact, and once met the owner of the only Elan M100 in Taiwan. He is on this forum. The plethora of Toyotas on the roads means that you would never guess that the country once had a motor industry of its own.
