My driver's side door has started making a noise when it locks. It sounds like gears slipping.
Does anyone have experience of either removing or repairing the actuator?

Simon - I think there was someone with door actuator problems here....
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=27180&hilit=Actuator&start=20Chas54 last post. Don't know if it helps or whether this refers to a window problem ?

I have replaced the door lock actuator. I used a complete secondhand mech. Fixing it looked a bit hard.
Removal and replacement was pretty straightforward IIRC. It does require removing most of the door trim and card..

Hi Muley
You said "

I am just about to replace the lock solenoid with a second hand one and would like to ask the following questions..
I have removed the card and the black protection plate, do I have to remove the window runner or any other bits to get access / remove the lock?
Did you have a problem with disconnecting / reconnecting the rods?
Any other hints you can give me before I get started??
thanks in advance

Hi. I don't remember having to remove the runner. The rods have nylon bushes that need to be compressed to get the rods off.
Good luck
