Fuel Filler Cover

The cover release appears to have become detached. How can I open the cover so as to replace the cable and fill the tank? I can’t seem to find any other way to access the fuel tank cap.

When you say that it has become detached, do you mean the cable or the hinge on the actual cover?

I assume you must mean the cable doesn't open it, otherwise you would still get access to the filler.....

..... basically, you can just slip a credit card (other plastic cards are also available) into the gap where the catch is (rear edge of flap) and operate the catch that way to allow the flap to spring open.

I had tried doing that without success but tried again and realised I had been inserting the card on the wrong side. D’oh!
It’s opened now.

I'm guessing you won't worry about fixing it now...but use this dodge as a "normal" method of opening it?
