Centre console removal

Since owning the car ive noticed that the console where it meets the selector surround is raised
Can anyone tell me how to remove the console so i can see whats needed to rectify it
Lockdown boredom is kicking in and things ive ignored are now irritating me
Any help appreciated

Hi Friend ,
You need to remove the 2 small screws in the small box ( the one we put the cd cases ),
In there should be 2 Phillips screws on each side ( in the center you can find the cables ,
After this you need to remove the 2 windows switch in there will be another 2 phillips screws and after this remove the mirror switch and remove the gearknob , after this all you should almost remove the center console ,
But you need some patience you should need to push the handle brake and find the better position
To remove the console , I hope I could helped you .

Yep, those directions are accurate.

You might want to look for some answers yourself using the Lotus manuals available via the link here or at the bottom of my signature below.

Sometimes answers can be slow to arrive and trying to be patient can be frustrating.

Pretty much all the documentation you will need are there (thanks to permission from Lotus)

....unless you have an S2 with the later design centre console - in which case there is no flip-up armrest with storage box.......

..... and as the thread is titled "Centre console removal" it may well be that someone in the future will search for information and find this thread - so I was just keeping the information accurate as opposed to a (presumed) specific application.

Good call on looking at the manual ,although sometimes its nice to hear from people that have actually done the job to get tips or hints of anything they came up against
From your responses it looks like the two screws under the switches are missing as i can lift that area up

I dont know if you have done this job yet. I did it recently. One thing not mentioned by any correspondent was how to remove the gear lever knob. I had to research elsewhere to find out there is a small grub screw on the side of the gear stick just under the leather sheathing that needs to be unscrewed first. This is not mentioned here nor in the printed lotus manual I have got. I also found you have to really pull the handbrake up very hard for the consul to clear it.

Hi tommy - thanks for the help
I nearly pulled the entire selector out trying to get the damn gearknob off before giving up
This is why its better to ask and get info off people that have actually done the job
Luckily i am replacing both gaiters so i just nipped the stitching
Found the problem with the console was the bracket bonded under the window switches had broken off
I drilled 2 holes through the console underneath the little rubber mat and re attached it with countersunk screws
Hopefully itll fit nicely when it goes back together
