Body Protective film

There are sets of protective film available for the Elan front sills and the front of the rear arches, running at £45 for 4 small pieces of Fablon. Can someone show me pictures of what they look like so I can make some up from film I have spare from waterproofing maps? It’s the same stuff and costs several pence per metre, available from all good stationary shops.

I had them on my red car, but no decent pictures, I'm afraid.

Be aware that the 3M clear protection tape is NOT the same as Fablon - it is the stuff they developed to protect high speed rotor blades from FOD strikes, and is otherwise known as "Helicopter Tape".

The stone-chip patches feel completely different, and are designed to be quite hard so that they don't impact and damage from flying debris.

Excellent news I used to fly such ac and can get blade tape from the engineers locally. Will ask them on Monday, but still need to know the sizes though if anyone can help?

Although none of my photos were taken to show the tape position itself, having gone through some folders I found a picture where it can actually be seen (sort-of)...

The area inside the box has 2 pieces of film, above and below the horizontal join line in the panels, and the bit on the sill follows the line down from the door edge.

Thanks for the reply, I will head over to Benson and see if I can get some blade tape off the engineers... pack of biscuits certain to be needed!
