3d Printed Butterfly Clips

I've had one set of butterfly clips 3d printed in flexible carbon. These are laser sintered, not FDM, so very tough



They are really nice quality, I could get some sets made, I'd need a minimum of 10 takers to cover minimum qty's again.

The cost would be £20 a pair posted.

Sorry to show my lack of knowledge but where do they fit and why would they need replacing?

These hold the glass in position with the up and down movement of the window regulator. Over time the original nylon becomes brittle and snaps.

If your windows are working fine then you dont need them, however if you plan/need to do anything with the windows in the future you will more than likely need to replace these - 1 per side window.

If these butterfly clips are still available, I would like to purchase - perhaps four... it's been about 5yrs since I last replaced one. I have no spares (thought that I did but no), and I'm tempting faith. I need to remove both left and right side door cards (soon - I've been putting this off) to adjust the slides (*the windows foul going UP and I have to pull the glass up manually to facilitate the process. I recall that there's an adjustment for that), and I need to find out why the doors are making a disconcerting and loud noise when opening (kind of a "bang" as if something is catching on fiberglass and then releasing with the aforementioned bang). Anyway, I'm going to inspect and replace the butterfly clips while I'm in there... I'm not sure if you know Barry Spencer (Spencer's Motorsports) - we are old friends going on 40yrs now. I've been with GGLC since moving to the Bay Area in 1985. I've been the Sponsor/Advertising guy since 2000 working with Kiyoshi and Editor Joel Lipkin and all the likely suspects. My M100 is my rock-steady daily driver 9mo/yr (also have a lovely Elan Sprint '72). Please reply and I can give you my mobile number if that's handy for texts and calls.

callmelegend sold hes m100 a while ago. not sure how active he will be in the forum. but you may strike luck on the facebook groups. i have seen some posts from him after the sale... well usually trying to flog out parts lol.

that is true, however, these are made in flexible carbon. which "may" be a whole different beast to your usual PLA/PLA+/PETG plastic filaments.
i certainly wouldnt be printing this in PLA or PLA+ as those filaments are too hard/brittle for something that needs a reasonbale amount of flex.

i would be trying nylon for these... unsure if petg is flexible enough but will be trying at some point in the future

Easy enough to get them printed or buy them from someone who has had a batch printed.

I had a go at printing them at home after I'd bought the nylon filament and had a couple of attempts I salvaged the C clips as that was really what I needed. I see that PNM have developed a C clip so that would be the answer unless you have the time and inclination.
