Nope ... the truth is out there somewhere but we haven't found it yet.

If it helps any one I have a hardtop in my garage but i"m not willing to lend it out if it doesn't come back. Thats if a mould could be remade from it. I bought it many moons ago from a lad in manchester direction. Think he was called Monty.

I know a chap who could make a mould, could get a rough price if we could start with some photos of a hardtop & rome rough dimensions.

I have the capacity to manufacture hardtops (apachecanoes.com ) and have already sourced an Mgf hardtop and windscreen rails to make one for myself .if anyone already has a hard top that fits it would be an easy enough process to copy it

Please put me on the order list, I'd love one - perversely for our hot summers rather than the rain so I will hide some silver foil under the lining. If you can get hold of one I can stump up a deposit. Would need to know costs before committing though.

Hello guys,

I see your topic here and MAYBE I can help to produce a hardtop.
Iam a supplier for the company Dr. Hoehn https://www.roadranger.pl/ (so I have a good contact with them) who produce hardtops and they can make hardtops for us when they get an existing hardtop.

Question is how much pices should be produced? This information is needed to calculate the price

Hi Housam
Did anyone reply to your offer of loaning out your hardtop for a mould to be taken from it ?
I have waited years for a hardtop that would mean I could source a car

Morning all ,
Unfortunately the moulds have disappeared thus making the original 15 quite sort after.
I guess the next best thing is to do the MGF conversion which i think looks very impressive.

Did you ever make contact with Andy on Skye Clemo? Something in my grey cells remembers you and Dapinky went up to find him? Was this just for the roll hoops and fairings?

And have we ruled out that scoundrel and conman c. 2014/2015?

So lets wait and see if we can keep them "in the family" and not give them to the idiot brother, but worst comes to worst, I can take them and I think we can make them. If not they can always move onwards but moving them to Scotland is a logistical nightmare, let alone moving them away again. But ready to take the moulds and work with them if nobody else can….

Mark,

The hard tops moulds and the roll hoop bits & pieces are 2 separate entities (although both originated from Simons' skill and work).....

.... the hardtop moulds disappeared into the ether and despite various attempts to track them down, nowt has been found. There is always a possibility that they exist (either knowingly or unknowingly) in a 'collection' somewhere languishing in the back of a shed - but I think that realistically, we need to accept that they are unlikely to turn up and be in possession of someone with the time/skills to re-manufacture the tops.

The 'hoops' on the other hand (which is where Andy from Skye comes into play) are a somewhat known quantity. Whilst Andy has no desire, intent or necessity (financial or otherwise) to get back into the making of them, all of the necessary 'components' are in LEC possession......

...... ie, we know where the main hoop jig is.... we know where the technical drawings are...... we know where the moulds for the fibreglass deck cover with bulges is.... and the moulds for the fairings on the back of the hoops.

Clemo just needs to sort out the process for the manufacture by someone who Simon would be happy to use (in the absence of Andy) as it is his name on the finished products!
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

If my hard top wants using for a mould reproduction I want some type of assurance that it'll be returned in the same capacity it is lent out. I want to know when it is to be returned and how its going to be picked up?
I'm also looking for someone to help me find somewhere to get the original canopy stripped and powder coated as I have a full set of original seals just sat on my garage shelf waiting to be fitted If any body can help me out. My hardtop is one of the original carbon fibre tops so I know its quite sort after and don't want it going missing as it took me a number of years to find one.
