Removable wind deflector

I’ve been looking at the wind deflector options for the Elan and I’m coming up with either a bolt in mesh panel or a make my own polycarbonate one. What I’m after is a removable folding option for something like a modern German car: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-6-Series ... SwbVVfq6T9

As anyone fitted such a system and if so can they point me at the correct type? I’m keen not to damage the car and to just fit a couple of simple brackets to hold the system.

Thanks for the info, I’ve already done the search of this site; hence my comment regarding polycarbonate deflectors and mesh affairs, ie the link you posted.

I’m after a fully removable system that simply clips in and can be removed, folded up and stowed in either the boot or behind the seats. From your comment I assume that is something no one has either considered, or posted yet?

It looks like the foldable variety are likely to be too specific to the cars they are meant for, the ones that Classic Additions and Weyer make seem to all be bolt on items ahead of the rear pocket. Nevertheless Amazon seems to have a Weyer one available at £85.

The best design I've seen by an LEC member was the AERWD (Andrew Ennis Retractable Wind Deflector) it basically worked like a blind made of mesh but in reverse. It was fairly unobtrusive ie could be rolled away when not in use and could easily be removed

The design can still be seen on a few Scottish cars (AE was a design engineer based in Aberdeen) ie John Wham's pacific blue one. And I think ScottJ (now Par's) car also had one fitted

I’m about to try a Peugeot 207cc removable deflector for size, it looks like it should fit behind the seats without much modification. Has anyone tried using one of these before?

Edit: don’t bother it is fractionally too large in both width and depth and mounting it would have meant some serious hole cutting into the structure.

I managed to find a Weyer wind deflector on Amazon for £54 delivered which turns up in a couple of days; hoping to create a similar system to that used on the polycarbonate screen, which means I can stow it behind the seats quickly. Update to follow.

Now fitted in a matter of minutes and looks very smart. Once I get a chance to drive in decent weather with the top down I can see if it has made any difference to the buffeting experienced at speed.

I do, but I didn't!

It came with the hoops, and was designed and made by the Goddess herself as part of the package.

A lot of us have this wind deflector fitted to our cars it works very well and is easy to fit, no need to remove it when putting the roof up and down.
