squealing cooling fans

i put an inline switch to the dash as an override so if / when sitting in traffic i don't have to wait for the car to heat up before fans kicking in .

This too allows me to regularly feed the fans with power to rotate .

I have that set up in the Black Beastie Clemo. It's great for when you get stuck in town and also on the motorways. You can bring the fans in early before the needle nearly hits off the top of the temp. gauge

I now have one broken fan on the steel blue
(squeels like a pig) Did anyone ever attempt to replace bearings?
What is the latest insight on replacement parts ?
Both need to work on the fan switch, but which one is operated by the aircon?

They are bronze bushes and have dried out - Drill a small hole in the side of the raised part and inject oil.

Both work for aircon it just switches the fan relay.

Can you press them out and boil them in oil?

Another question as i am troubleshooting currently: When i ground the fan switch on the thermostat housing, and the contact is on, one or both fans should rotate, right?
How is that with the aircon?

Somehow I get only 12 V on one fan, and even that one does not run. When I switch the connector from left to right fan, that fan also does not work... 2 broken fans?

PS The last time I changed a fan was my Collapso Red Rambo and I'm sure the make was Valeo so possibly another source for you?

I think the answer to your question is yes; both + and - are supplied through the plug. From the plug follow the wire up to the top part of the frame where ist is grounded with a small screw.

So... I had 2 problems with 2 cars with at least 2 fans!

1.
On my own car, both fans did not operate anymore. Fan switch worked, fuses OK, Relais OK, Wiring OK, but ground of both fans was not connected to chassis properly apparently.
Simon, you were spot on! I emptied my socket extension bin and after a while I was able to fix a new (self locking) bolt. Man is it a tight space in that corner!
The fans now both jump to life when shorting the fan switch, be it one squealing like a pig as well! After a second or 2 it went quiet again. Mission accomplished
It turns out this was (one of the) reasons why my air conditioning compressor locked up. hopefully 3 problems solved with one screw! (Did I thank Simon already? )

It would be great if anyone has a link to a universal one that fits without additional custom brackets (Bolt Pattern identical to OEM)
Or perhaps you have 2 pcs wandering about since the last groupbuy that will not be used?

Soldering the connector is not a problem
