Thought I’d give this an update as its nice to look back on.

Last year I replaced the sliders for the front callipers and replaced the disks and pads for EBC yellowstuff. No more brake judder when the disks get hot, previous disks must have been dodgy.
Both headlight motors refurbished, no more winking lights.
Still loving the Yoko AD08’s, fantastic in all but the coldest/wettest weather.
The front end has been fully resprayed and the rest of the car buffed. (Looking better than it in all 11 years of my ownership)
Replaced the front and side indicators for clear.

Current jobs.
Still chasing a tiny coolant leak since replacing the hoses for samco about 4 years ago.
Currently in the middle of replacing the weather strips. Awaiting a few bits if I can get them to finish the job properly.

Jobs to do...
Cambelt Asap, may even try this myself.
Re colour and weather proof the hood
Re colour the leather before deciding wether or not to get it re leathered.
Repair the out riggers
Install new carpets and closed cell foam.

Its a shame we won’t be having any shows/meets anytime soon but I am looking forward to catching up with you all.

I thought I'd post my annual spring update...

Cam and aux kit purchased and booked for fitting.
Full respray back to calypso red done!
Hood cleaned and restored using renovo.
New radiator fitted.
New door weather strips installed, AT LAST!!!

The new to do list...
new radio, speakers and aeiral.
Try and source new door and hood stowage seals.
Fit Jamie's header and A pillar seal kit.
Reduce water ingress as much as possible.
Design and make a long lasting shower cape. (I don't want to use a full cover on the new paintwork)
Fit new bonnet heat/sound insulation.
Outrigger repairs.
Replace carpets and foam.
Look into sound proofing the doors/cabin. May not be worth while but I'd like to make the car as comfortable and usable as a summer daily as possible. I'm not concerned about adding a few Kg...
Once the bushes are completed with the group but they'll need fitting.
Re leather the seats. Probably going to keep to the original colours and design.

Quite a list and it'll have to spread over a few years.

Good work on the respray! I’ll be interested to hear of progress on the retrim - I too am considering “back to original” for the seats and looking at supplier options - and also the soundproofing. Choice of materials and placement locations of particular interest.

It has been a long time since I have updated…

Good news first, I have an MOT!
As of this aft, I have successfully installed the O2 sensor that I bought years ago. Unfortunately I did have to add the wiring which was a tad stressful as I was afraid of blowing the ECU.
What a difference! The obvious is the extra power but the delivery seems smoother and on lift off the run down is so much smoother. Less pops and bangs though

Jobs still in need of attention:
Driver side seat has a tear now so definitely needs doing soon
Slight whiff of fuel in the hood stowage area. I replaced the tank about 12 years ago, I’m hoping it hasn’t split.
I’m still on the fence regarding the brakes, comfortable pass again at the MOT but they do get hot quickly when having fun.
Shocks could do with a refresh as they are 34 years old.
Tidy up the engine bay and coat/spray some of the rusty metal.
Still need to fit the one piece A pillar and header seal.
Windscreen needs replacing as it has cracked

When I changed my shocks to AVO's I had a good look at the old shocks and couldn't really fault any of them but the springs were very corroded.
I'd get your screen done before you fit the seals, I've got the one piece set up, see you at CC.

Great news re MOT Nick!

Your CO emissions improvement pretty much reflects the improvements I got, when I went closed loop. Makes the MOT so much easier to pass.

A little bit of tidying under the bonnet.

A few vacuum hoses replaced. I still have the boost issue…
The boost gauge does sometimes go up to the expected level but only for a split second then falls back to 0.5.
I checked the other hoses for signs of leaks and can’t find any sign of perished hoses or leaks.

Check the ground wire on the "sensor" (i know its not a sensor technically but the name of the part escapes me at the moment) near the power steering reservoir.
make sure the wires are connecting to the "thing" corretly and with clean connections.
if the boost is working and its only the reading that is not appearing in the cabin, thats an easy thing to from

I've made use of todays good weather.
Oil and filter change (didn't really need it but I've a small stock of oil so thought 'why not?')
Replaced the spark plugs
Reset the base timing
Cleaned the inside of all four wheels and swapped front to back. (I'm aware some people don't advise this. I'll take it fairly steady until they bed back in)

The good news is the car seems to be running a lot smoother. So whether it was dodgy plugs or the timing or a bit of both, I'm not sure...

Does the fuel pump just run at one speed/maintain a set pressure or does it increase when on the throttle? I've a faint whiff of fuel when on prolonged load such as long inclines. I have previously replaced the fuel tank so I'm hoping it's not that.

It could be the fuel regulator seal or the injector seals but it must be such a small leak I can't seem to track it down...
After CastleCombe I may send the injectors away for a refurb.

I've bought a refurb kit for the front calipers but that'll have to wait until after CC as I just won't have time to do a full strip down and paint.

I feel I'm making decent progress again this year.

single speed

as far as fuel tank.
I Had a crack in mine, took it out and fixed it.. then installing it again... and i re-cracked the same spot because the whole thing needed to be rammed in as its a bit of a tight installation... unless i missed something obvious when installing it.
