What are your thoughts. CLHQ have informed me that they are hoping the event will be as close to normal as possible. I've carried over my track slot to this year.
Could the 'Hokey-Cokey' actually be what it's all about?

I was wondering about a M100 meet up, observing the rules of course. To me this event is more about meeting up with people rather than the track, that's just an added bonus.

I probably won't be going as Herr Sturgeon still has us caged up. And travel to Englandshire is still banned for the foreseeable future

I'm fully expecting to be there.....

.... whether it is for just the day, an overnighter with a tent in the paddock, or a 'full weekend' at the campsite is still to be worked out.

To me, getting the car out will be fun, the drive there and back will be enjoyable, but the opportunity to sit under a gazebo in the rain drinking a luke-warm cuppa with some mates will be the main attraction.

Me and Shell are wanting to come down again.
Before I book time off work and arrange child and animal care, is there enough interest to make it worth while doing the miles down there? We loved it in 2019 as there was huge M100 presence.

Anybody up for camping?

If it’s on and Boris allows us out to play, I’ll definitely be going; mind you, that could be viewed as an incentive or not, depending on your point of view

The campsite opens on 12th April, with social distancing in place.

It is definitely my plan to be there.....

.... and always happy to camp if allowed.

I am not sure what restrictions will be either placed on the campsite by the government, or they even impose themselves. Bearing in mind that they will have had a poor last 12-months, and we are looking to go for a couple of nights in what will be a bit of a peak season (school break, bank holiday, nice weather!!!). Many places are limiting the quantity of customers and insisting on a minimum number of nights. Can't blame them for that, but if they are only running at 2/3 capacity and want people to stay for a week, it'll be a non-starter for me. (but I'll still go down for the day, or seek alternative accommodation).

Well, it’s for each of us to decide, but over here in the free Stewartry of Kirkcudbrightshire we’re not averse to reading the Health Protection (Coronavirus) (Restrictions and Requirements) (Local Levels) (Scotland) Regulations 2020 and picking from the two full pages of statutory “good reasons” which specifically permit travel to and from (allegedly germ-ridden) England. I think the trick is not to try to cross the line of control looking as if one is on holiday. Yellow jacket = “lockdown camouflage”.

That said, Castle Combe looks about 6 hours drive from here (plus any hold-ups) vs. just over 2 hours by air. What would be the chance of a lift from Garston Farm, about 4 miles away? Happy to carry a passenger and/or any camping/holiday-looking stuff, in return.

Now that sounds an interesting notion. No direct knowledge of Garston Farm, but I can offer three fields local to the event: Cotswold Airport (GBA/EGBP); Oaksey Park (EGTW) and (sometimes) Charlton Park. All PPR, reasonable landing fees. All close to Malmesbury, the centre of activities for the weekend. Lotus Elan taxi available to and from local accommodation

Just stay well away from the Brize ATZ (don’t ask me how I know)

FYI FWIW
As a member of Caravan and Motorhome Club, I have just been advised all their club sites will be opening on 12th April. We're going to their Woolacombe site on 17th April so will report back.

All communal areas like washrooms, toilets, washing up and laundry will be open EXCEPT for showers. Limited number access to facilities at any one time, masks social distancing etc will apply.

I imagine non affiliated sites, eg Malmesbury site will be following similar policies.
Sadly I will be sailing in Greece so can't come this year, unless I'm not, then we will!

Hope this helps.

Can't help admiring your optimism John but I think the only place you'll be sailing in May is the Avon not the Aegean. BoJo is bound to thwart your plans I suspect :?

Better schedule in a day on track and a curry at the Spice Merchant

I think the curry at the Spice Merchant may be by way of a take-out round a picnic table on a campsite.... but you never know.

What date is this event?
Club Lotus has it as Saturday 29th May and I can't see anything on Castle Coombe events page on their website.
Considering a day out, wonder if any other Kent LECers fancy it?
