No, it's confusing ignore that column. Take the block mark, measure the journal diameter, read across from the block mark to see which range the journal is in, read across to the bearing grade colour and you should get the oil clearance indicated.
"Worn" is just giving an additional range/grade for a wear limit it is the actual journal measurement that you should go by.

Try Dave Bean or BCN or a lotus dealer.

In other news: I recently saw a photo of the Fed steering wheels - man they are UGLY! And I can’t imagine a 30yr old airbag makes you feel much safer. I’ve got two of these, want one? I’ve got the centre for it too. I’ll post it over if you want it, none taken if you don’t of course.

So what colour are you going to paint the block?

Ok, like the good you are, you convinced me to checkout what colors are out there and what should I do: air dry VHT; 2k; 2k with primer? Should I go schnazzy accent with Red to play on the color of the car, or just keep it black? ...and then I took a look at some old pics of the engine bay and I'll be if you can see any of the block when it is shoved back in there. So I'll be boring and just stick with black and probably just the locally available VHT instead of fancy 2K.

While I've been waiting for the replacement bearing to arrive, I've continued with the rest of the clean and prep. I thought I had found a great deal at an Isuzu dealer that had an online portal which was showing the pistons as available for cheap. They took my money, but no parts I was able to secure some used ones thanks to BCN though. About as good as the other two that I plan to reuse. Just finishing cleaning them up now.


I still have the oil pump to disassemble, clean and rebuild; hopefully this weekend. Maybe start putting the head back together and checking that all the valves have seated well too, if I'm lucky.

About the paint:
When you sprayed in a color locally available, you could finish it with 2k clear coat (in a can) either in matte, satin or high gloss.
the 2k makes it better oil resistant.

1. My oil warning light still isn’t working although my pressure gauge is. I thought that the pressure sender / low pressure sender were one unit but they look like two on yours, is that right?

2. My Samco set does not appear to have that little blue hose, is that oil or water?

Yes, funnily enough I had no problem at all changing the oil filter; don’t know what all the fuss is about

It’s not part of the Samco set; I made that little hose up from a spare piece of silicon hose because the original black one was FUBAR. In fact, I’d have preferred to use black, but I had some blue of the right diameter, and I was too parsimonious to pay for a metre of the black

Thanks guys! Special shout out to 378S2 for reminding me to do the paint before I got too far down the rebuild road. When I had it in the garage, with not the best light and coated in SeaFoam, you couldn't see just how bad it was. I took it out again in the sun today, and it really does look nice now- much better than the photos could capture. Unfortunately, the great weather also begged for hiking outside today, and then homework ate up the rest of the weekend, so no other progress I'm afraid.

I remember that photo! Seems like I keep finding jobs that are only "a few more days" before I'm there, but the list has stopped growing and it does seem I've rounded the bend . I'm glad you posted that, because I wanted to ask what torque did you tighten up your oil cooler/filter adapter thingie up to the Block? I read the manual 3 times and it doesn't show or talk about that aluminum piece, but I had to take it off in order to paint the back. It didn't seem too tight, so I'm guessing like 20-25 Nm? Also, any tips on how to get the proper torque for the knock sensor and oil pressure sender?

Ah, I think I misunderstood.

A) is a pressure transducer and low pressure switch in one unit?
B) is the knock sensor?

And the blue hose is the oil separator return (not coolant)?

For the life of me I can’t get a hand to A from above. I’ll tackle it when I start work on the Samco / Brake refurb this winter.
