Hi , Can anyone help me with the RAL colour code for Norfolk yellow mustard I have the lotus code B05 but struggling to cross reference Cheers

Just curious as to why you might need an RAL code. Most resprayers and paint can suppliers use the original Lotus code quoted in wikilec and also correctly by you, or the manufacturer code.

Likewise. The RAL codes (more correctly, the codes from one of the collections which make up the full RAL colour set) have in many cases been created since the Lotus was designed and sold. As far as I know, there isn’t a specific collection for car colour equivalents. The original collections were principally focused on emergency signs, and more recent collections have been aimed at designers and architects.

Every car bodywork specialist I have ever dealt with has used the manufacturers paint code (in Lotus case either DuPont or ICI) to give the car colour, and - in the case of a part respray - tinted it as necessary to match the actual vehicle colour (bearing in mind that paint colours fade over time).

Or am I missing something?

As the RAL code is 'just' a German (now worldwide) Industry Standard for solid colours, it isn't really a suitable way to define a car paint (unless you happen to want a car painted in shipping-container green semi-gloss).

It can't make allowances for metallic, mica or other 'particles' added, or other such variants. as a 4-digit system, it can only ever have 10,000 possible shades.

An RGB code (or hexidecimal) will give you a better chance of finding a perfect match - but again, only really for solid colours.....

Any decent paint supplier will be able to work from the Lotus code of B05, or the equivalent DuPont code of ABN9561.

I would have no problem getting paint , I am trying to match leather colourant , the company Furniture Clinic can make it up from the RAL . I have sent them lotus code ,ICI code' duponte code and other to see if they can work them ,I await their reply . They use RAL as they make colourant for various uses . Thanks for the help.

did you get anywhere with matching the leather colour as I am trying the find a code or name for the green leather in my car
