Headlamp pods adjustment when raised?

After a full overhaul of my headlamps and motors I adjusted the shims so the pod rear was same height as bodywork.
After setting the linkage from motor to mid link to 140mm as per the manual, I adjusted the link from mid link to pod so front edge now flush with bumper so all looked very good.
Then I raised the pods and found one was over 10mm higher than the other!
Is this normal as maybe no one worries about this but does mean you have one set of headlamp adjustment screws fully in and the other fully out to compensate.
Anyone have a value what the correct height when raised of the pods should be?
Good reference would be inner top corned to body deck at that point, have found mine to be 275 and 285 respectively.

I'm not sure which datum your measurement of 10mm is relative to? The ground? From your measurement at the end I'll guess one pod has more washers than the other.

They are two plastic boxes with a hinge glued to them, bolted to another bit of plastic which is shimmed and bolted to several bits of metal and plastic.

There are two potential issues here.
The first is that you are expecting them to be the same, they are different, that's why they are adjustable.

The second is that it is a simple mechanical linkage so either one starts off 10mm lower than the other, or one motor moves through a greater angle than the other.

The datum I used was to raise both the bonnet and headlamp pods.
Place a ruler against the highest point of the light pod and let it rest on the internal bodywork directly beneath this point then should get about 280mm
The bodywork at this point is the same height on either side.

My question is that as the motor lever stops are not worn and the bracket is fairly tight fit are the tolerance's so great that the difference is acceptable when new?
I can see no adjustment for the fully open position at all. Probably no one notices the difference in height.
Now thinking of packing out the full open lever stop on one side to balance them out, as I stated when closed can get a good fit.
Just asking if anyone has noticed any difference on their car?
