Castle Combe, May 2023

Postby Rambo » Tue 20.09.2022, 22:57

I know this is about 8 months early but I thought you should know that the annual Club Lotus/Castle Combe w/e will revert to its normal May w/e slot (the w/e preceding Whit Monday) next year. It was confirmed to me at Silverstone Classics so start pencilling in Fri. 26th/Sat 27th May in to your hectic social calendars

I will check up on camping in Malmesbury, potential beer and cider festivals at The Smoking Dog, curry night at The Spice Merchant etc...

All the usual LEC stuff you love and just a taster of what's to come. More be revealed in due course.

For those attending (and I know it’s a long time away, but these things creep up on us): E5 fuel is very difficult to find in this area at present.

Tescos in Tetbury has opened a new filling station, which has no E5. Tesco in Cirencester has E5, but beware: if you pay at the pump it debits your car with £120 the moment you lift the nozzle. The difference between your purchase and £120 is eventually refunded, but it is currently taking 5-7 working days. The two BP stations in Malmesbury and Stanton St Quinton (near M4 J17) have E5 intermittently, but at a price approaching £2.10 a litre.

If you’re coming from the east, Swindon has a number of decent filling stations; from the west, Chipping Sodbury is your best bet; from the north, try Stroud, and from the south, Melksham is good. Here’s hoping the situation improves before next May.

By the time of CC we'll have E15 the way our respective government's are going :?

I'll fill up somewhere near Stroud or east of the M5. Thanks for the heads up J.
