Carpet

On Salvage Hunters Classic Cars last evening there was a clip of a moulded carpet being made for a Peugeot 205 by Newton Commercial.

I have contacted that company and they do not have a mould for our cars.

Is it known who was the OEM and whether a mould exists?

If all else fails I shall have to use flat carpet in smaller pieces.

I saw the program as well, did not immediately think of the m100, but my mg's.
Looks like they list the elan +2, and mgf/tf.

When I did my car I did it with a flat sheet.

The footwells are actually pretty close to a 3-sided box (ie, when you fit the sheet, the top edges are still parallel), if that makes sense.

I used a double thickness of foam in the actual footwell, and made up the 'holes' under the seat to make it flat - that way, there is only really a small step down from the seat area to the footwell.

The carpet I used was what BMW used in the MINI, and the sheet size was pretty perfect for the Elan, with minimal cutting. Because it is 'proper' car carpet, it is somewhat mouldable with heat, so it can be treated with a hairdryer and pressure from a piece of 4"x2" to get a good fit. The most awkward bits were the 'B' post covers as they needed a fair bit of heat and pressure in small areas at a time to get it to stretch but not deform or lose the texture/pile.

Once it was 'formed' I used spray adhesive to fit it, and although a bit fiddly, it wasn't a hard job.
