Dave says that with a 256mm disc his ATE system pads overhang by 2mm at the centre so with a 260mm disc they would be bang on the edge....

The outer edge of the pad only overhangs by 1mm, therefore with 260mm discs it will be 1mm inside - result? ::)
Halfords did not have any Corsa SRI discs in stock and anyway they are in sealed boxes these days, presumably to stop us from contaminating them! Anyone out there got access to one?
Will try my local dealer soon.

Visited my local dealer to check out Corsa discs. Couldn't actually measure one but the official spec sheet lists the discs at 260mm Dia for 1.4 16v, 1.8 16v & 1.7Dti 16v.
GM computer list them as "24 x 260mm". Part No is 9196050 at £95 + vat the pair, less any discount you can arrange.
Will try to find some in stock to measure.
Out of interest the current Astra GSI has 280 mm discs but with 5 stud fitting.

This is getting interesting, alternatively I wonder if you can get aftermarket 260mm grooved discs for the Corsa?

Alan,
Why not just "go for it"? You won't regret it! Dimitris original comments at the top of this thread are spot on!
I am not a million miles away from you so would be willing to pop down and install them (at your risk!) in return for an "Elanscan" demo and cup of tea!

If you're changing discs, make sure you have an angle grinder (or electric drill and grind stone) handy.

I had to grind down my hub carriers before my discs would fit. PM's staff reckon it's quite a common necessity.

I've finished reconditioning my ATE calipers now. I'm still waiting for the Clio discs (apparently they got overlooked at the machine shop).

Back on the subject of the variability of pad overlap - I think a lot of the differences are caued by variation in pads. I got my left and right calipers from different cars and the pads from one come to within around 2mm of the edge of the backing plate the other pair are more like 3mm from the egde. So pad choice and consistency will be a big factor in the overlap of friction material observed.

I'm STILL waiting for my %$^£ing discs. My wonderful stock calipers have already warped one of my 2 week old discs. Now that the weather's broken I'll have fun getting the weather to fit discs & ATE calipers as well (should have got a place with a garage). [smiley=nopityA.gif]

Spaced out man :o typical Lotus owner
The standard bolts are M12 x 1.25 pitch x 40 long socket head cap screws (10mm hex key needed). Unfortunatly the standard pitch you will find for M12 is 1.75 (Coarse series). I am not sure if "fine" series are 1.25, will confirm tommorow.
New length will depend on the spacers you use. Mine are 1.5 so I stuck with the standard bolts. I guess you will have 4mm so go for 45 long bolts, just make sure they dont poke thro' and foul something, oh and use loctite (freely available if you decide to visit Washington
If you have trouble sourcing these let me know, I have a few contacts I can try.
