How do you open a bonnet /hood if the cable is not releasing it?

Get someone to push the bonnet down whilst you pull the release latch, or when you pull the latch put a screwdriver over the exposed inner cable and wedge it down further.

If your cable is broken then you will have to come at from below and that is another world of hassle on the Elan. Mind keep us posted how you eventually resolved it.

you wont be able to acces the latch from the holes with the pods removed.

your best option is trying from undernearth but you will have the turbo in the way.

it may well be impossible without damaging fibreglass.

im sure someone at some point in time has had that issue, but im not aware of the story

spend the time looking into it from underneath.

if you absolutely cant. and are willing to start damaging fibreglass, i would consider removing the wheelarch liner and trying to find where in the clam shell you may be able to make a small cut and get acess to the cable.
id hope that acessing the cable there may allow you to pull it to open,.

if you know the cable is definitly not going to work. then you are looking at trying to acess the lathc from under the car and under th clam shell. which would be a lot easier if you manage to remove the engine.

at this point you may find it just cheaper to get a new bonnet ?

i dont have any ideas that would be helpful. im also unsure if disclosing such, would be wise in a public forum.
