Aerial Base

Hi All, hoping there is someone here that can help with the procurement of an aerial base, probably a proper name for it, mine is disintegrating as shown by the picture.

If there is a part no. or similar replacement please let me know.

I remember looking for this a while ago and they were made by Bosch (I think) but no longer available.

I gather the special bit of it is a separate earth lead and I guess this could somehow be added later?

I hope 'someone in the know' can help...

you aim for 100% originality dont you Trevor ?

i personally would investigate using a generic universal mast. but not the common type, because those wouldnt fit due to the presence of the washer reservoir

my yellow car just has a standard anteena in the boot and a rubber grommet blocking the hole. i personally think it looks better that way.

Just to let you all know that I sent messages last week to the following with photo and enquiring about whether it was available:

I had reply from SJS and not available.
SWLC said that they would check but haven't come back to me.
No response from LotusBits and Classic Team Lotus, which is disappointing.

Joao, I like your idea and have also been looking at other generic masts. So search carries on.

if i was doing it. and taking into account how covers never get along with rods sticking out of the body panels.

I Would be considering buying a motor unit from a gen 6 Celica or mk2 MR2
im sure theres plenty others that would fit the bill. but those are the ones i know from personal experience, the point is.

1 - they are the style that has a motor and retracts
2 - the motor is not in line with the mast. therefore it is positioned a bit further away from the bodywork than the universal types. (see this listing to get an idea of what i mean)

in the M100 you probablyt can put a celica mast with the motor tucked behind the washer fluid reservoir. the whole stick up and retract electronics are also something you can get from a scrap car and just connect the signal wire straight from the radio...

anyways i really dont get the impression your the type of person to do something like that... and well.. the reason the answer is so ready for you... its because the mast on my NA is also broken. and i done your research as well.. im just not financially ready for the investment, mainly because i havent listened to radio in my car for.... probably 6-7 years now

I've got a DAB set and this is a cheapo plastic eBay aerial that lives in the glovebox most of the time.

Weak signal when working in the garage - so then I lay it on the dashboard or hang it over the rear view mirror...

So basically no progress with getting another base so decided to take it off and give it clean. Definitely looking better.
