Well, I have been somewhat reluctant to try and book things as there seems to be little information about what is happening locally - last year we 'winged it' for food and it worked okay, but we were camping elsewhere.....
.... now that we are back to our 'usual' spot, maybe we need to try to firm things up a bit.
The Greyhound (formerly Smoking Dog) looks like it has shifted upmarket a bit from the beer and burger festival that was the main attraction, and certainly, when we went 2 years ago (previous owners) the food was okay, but the ambience wasn't what we were used to.
Last year, we had a BBQ at the camp site on the Friday evening, and ate out at a country pub on the Saturday.
I do like a curry (but am aware that Joao has dietary requirements which means that he can't eat spicy food).
I am happy to eat either at the campsite or local take-away on Friday, then go up to the Rose & Crown for a beer and to enjoy their music (if there is any on), but that is merely a suggestion, not a direction!
And a curry on Saturday would get my name on a list, but again, I don't want to give the impression that it is what anyone else would wish to do.
I can bring my gas BBQ if that is what people want for Friday - but is a bit weather dependent, so will need to be looked at just before we set off..... so that way, people just need to grab whatever they wish to eat and chuck it on the fire when they want it - I am NOT intending to be grocery shopping and cooking for everyone. (but accept that it is a bit of a community event anyway).
I shall be arriving on Thursday afternoon, as I am off to London on the 1000hrs train from Chippenham on Friday, and should be back at about 1600, so probably 1700 at the camp site if I go shopping on the way back.... Thursday I shall grab something locally to cook or eat as I expect to be solo (unless anyone else is getting there Thursday).
Saturday, I shall be intending to have breakfast at the Pitstop at J17, M4.... they open at 0800, so that seems like a good time to arrive! (Castle Combe track opens at 0900, but as I'm not going on track, I don't need to be there that early)....... we have no reserved area of the paddock this year, so will do like last time and grab a suitable bit of grass when we get there, and call it our base!
Basically, that is MY plan, but each to their own!!!! - I shall have the kettle and makings, as usual, so feel free to make use of the facilities that are there.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?
