Outer door waist seals

Just went through every frigging step of Toby's outer door waist seal YouTube video (even listened to some Little Mix to complete the process). SUPER THOROUGH VIDEO & HIGHLY RECOMMEND! BUT... IF SOLO, get a paint scraper like the pic below and run it along the outer portion of the window to pull up & pop the waist seal in to it's proper place on the outside of the window glass. You will have a few rivets that you need to make sure get past the seal so adding a extra wedges will work (I used my vinyl wrap felt wedges). Additional plastic scrapers/wedges will help keep the seal away from the glass so those are handy to have: You can pull the outer seal up and out as your refitting the window.

Of course I'm an absolute daft idiot and didn't listen to Toby's wife as well and decided to recondition the metal steel carrier and sika'ed the seal onto it. It's not fantastic, could've pushed the lip 3cm more if I could've to get a good overlap to where it originally was. But my mantra these days is "Nothing is perfect" but I get really dissatisfied that it's not... I would love for it to look stock but given the nature of lack of "stock" or the hands we're dealt, we need to make do with what we have. But here's the thing...

Came across a post on the auctioneer site we all know and love, there's a guy out of Greece selling a very Jamie-esque solution for quite a substantial amount. Not trying to take money out of the man's mouth but is there anyone here that can identify this piece? Google Images are not providing any true results that would help me nail down a similar cheaper option. I would literally tear down the day and a half I spent taking out the window to have this solution. You cannot get the current outer waist seal out EASILY, without removing the entire window glass. This seal the man is providing looks like a quick easy out to all the troubles our cars have, I'm in if we can source this piece. Please let me know if you have either tried this seal or know where to obtain it. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the suggestion! Just read through it and since the window was pulled out, I tried to save the metal (same as what Toby did). If I had known about that thread, I believe I would've tried lotusflashermans approach. Still have the driver side to finish up and have the seal ready to go. If it works, I may end up grabbing another set from Ken at DaveBean and redoing the passenger side. Again, thanks for letting me know about that, still interested in finding that channel seal from the ebay pic. Options that have popped up over the years after the original design which may be cheaper and longer lasting are welcome!

i think i have posted a video on the same task, and it was doing exactly what your doing. doubth my video would be of any help at this stage.

just make sure you really get the right type of glue for that.
I Have to re-do mine because the evostick impact contact glue i used didnt really grip the edges... despite the fact i used the same stuff 8 years ago and it worked 100%.... im pretty sure they keep changing the formula of these chemicals and only make them less effective with every iteration

There's no being lazy about this unique car. Do it right, spend the time to get it right... cause in my neck of the woods, no mechanic will touch this car due to how rare it is in the states. Haven't said it enough, but yours & Tobys videos, along with everyone's adivce from this board have helped out immensely. Respect!

I definitely did it the lazy way....and it's starting to show now. Luckily tho...the fake seal is easy to lift up to add more glue

Welp, it's been bugging me and I'm not one to not sacrifice a little coin to try something new. I went and actually purchased a set of the ones from my initial post that were on eBay. Thank goodness there's a "make an offer" button and they accepted, my offer was basically to try and offset a good portion of the outrageous shipping costs. https://www.ebay.com/itm/195774523400

Once they arrive I will let you know how the install goes. Not looking forward to removing the window completely again, but it will give me the time to go back in, remove the window regulator piece and tighten stuff up since after multiple ups & downs something is sticking. Looking forward to the days where I can say that I won't need to remove the door card for many many months.

Trim arrived a bit ago but now just getting around to installing. I just finally got my car back after a month long stay at the mechanics (Headers milled, new timing belt/water pump, etc.)

Dry fitment so far on these crazily priced pieces look great. Measuring 3 times, cutting once to insure proper fitment... there's a malleable metal core that needs to be dremeled through. Loving it so far, just hated that I had to take the window almost completely out to remove the old trim (LAST TIME! Whooo!)

Will update once the final fit is done, need to do some finesse cuts to the area around the door handles exposed area to make it look more refined but excited to finally have this fixed! The trim by the mirror needed a slight 6-8(?) degree angle cut to mount flush to the plastic mirror trim.
