Okay, I have just got off the phone with Alison and it's all sorted (for the camping!) - Burton Hill camp site.

To confirm:-

Rambo - previously booked and deposit paid (look after Jack!!!!)

Joao (Tuga)
Tony (Blaster)
Jim/Jen (Muley)
Spud (Dave Eds)
To arrive Friday, and stay until Sunday.... can be extended if you wish, but they would prefer to know in advance if possible, otherwise sort it out on arrival.

Me - arriving Thursday, staying to Sunday - extra night as I'm off to London on the Friday for an interview and the dates fitted, so a cheap day return with an old gits railcard from Chippenham!!!!

I have paid £100 deposit (5 x £20) for those listed (except Mark). No need to send me money beforehand, cash on the weekend will do, unless you really want to avoid cash, in which case, let me know.

When you arrive at the campsite, let them know that you are with the "Dave Pink Party" as that is what it's listed at, but if you turn up in a Lotus, they will know who you are anyway.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Alison did say that she had had an email from you, but not taken a deposit, so I just sorted it out in one hit.

Three weeks to go . . .

I’m not sure what arrangements people would like for the Saturday evening meal (I didn’t attend last year), but I’m happy to book a table for the curry if that’s what people want.

I sense a list coming on . . .

By the way, for those who used to go to the Smoking Dog in years gone by, its metamorphosis is complete: https://thegreyhound-malmesbury.co.uk

Well, I have been somewhat reluctant to try and book things as there seems to be little information about what is happening locally - last year we 'winged it' for food and it worked okay, but we were camping elsewhere.....

.... now that we are back to our 'usual' spot, maybe we need to try to firm things up a bit.

The Greyhound (formerly Smoking Dog) looks like it has shifted upmarket a bit from the beer and burger festival that was the main attraction, and certainly, when we went 2 years ago (previous owners) the food was okay, but the ambience wasn't what we were used to.

Last year, we had a BBQ at the camp site on the Friday evening, and ate out at a country pub on the Saturday.

I do like a curry (but am aware that Joao has dietary requirements which means that he can't eat spicy food).

I am happy to eat either at the campsite or local take-away on Friday, then go up to the Rose & Crown for a beer and to enjoy their music (if there is any on), but that is merely a suggestion, not a direction!

And a curry on Saturday would get my name on a list, but again, I don't want to give the impression that it is what anyone else would wish to do.

I can bring my gas BBQ if that is what people want for Friday - but is a bit weather dependent, so will need to be looked at just before we set off..... so that way, people just need to grab whatever they wish to eat and chuck it on the fire when they want it - I am NOT intending to be grocery shopping and cooking for everyone. (but accept that it is a bit of a community event anyway).

I shall be arriving on Thursday afternoon, as I am off to London on the 1000hrs train from Chippenham on Friday, and should be back at about 1600, so probably 1700 at the camp site if I go shopping on the way back.... Thursday I shall grab something locally to cook or eat as I expect to be solo (unless anyone else is getting there Thursday).

Saturday, I shall be intending to have breakfast at the Pitstop at J17, M4.... they open at 0800, so that seems like a good time to arrive! (Castle Combe track opens at 0900, but as I'm not going on track, I don't need to be there that early)....... we have no reserved area of the paddock this year, so will do like last time and grab a suitable bit of grass when we get there, and call it our base!

Basically, that is MY plan, but each to their own!!!! - I shall have the kettle and makings, as usual, so feel free to make use of the facilities that are there.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

Thanks dapinky. I'm driving down early Sat am like last year and hope to breakfast at the PitStop again then 'not convoy' to secure our grassy park.

Erm...I seem to remember that we aimed to arrive for 08:00 to be sure of an 09:00 meet - and in the event the cafe opened at 10:00 :( (I can't find anything on the web to check...)

I haven't experienced the usual format, but I must say winging it at that pub (wasn't bit you who booked the table? and thanks) ticked all our boxes. There was plenty of parking when we arrived, it was fairly close, and the food was brill. I dunno how it could be bettered imo.

Just wanting to input thanks for being 'looked after' last year and happy again to follow the concensus.

https://chippenhampitstop.com/restaurant/

it says 0800 - 1430 as the restaurant opening hours for a Saturday but just because it is on the interweb doesn't mean it is true.

I Appreciate the mention, but thankfully things have changed since that conversation.

after the original scare, I had a review of my condition and as far as dietary requirements. what I fear was a complete "no go" requirement around fizzy drinks and spicy (hot) foods. is more of a guideline to "not consume those regularly".
I will join to a curry, but just like in previous years, have a preference for a mixed grill  .

I will arrive friday, probably sometime after lunch, and easy to join in with whatever the group decides to do.

time for the shameless attempt of making a penny to pay for the trip (and brag about my mods)

Ive got 2 Elanscan Cables that i will be happy to part of if anyone wants to take them off my hands (£50 each)

also will be showing my latest gadget, a Dash Blank replacement that holds the phone and has a fast USB charger.
I Have been using this for the past few months and althoguht the phone sits a bit low and far to reach, its out of the way but very visible when using as a satnav. and the fast charge keeps it from losing charge.

i posted on one of the facebook groups a video of the previous version. just to give an idea of what im talking about

As long as you can fit it for me at CC
