RH door glass_does not operate

Postby M100TURBOFR » Mon 12.05.2025, 17:24

Hi
Trying to fix RH door glass (driver's door) which doesn't go up or down. Current arriving at switch but crackling sound when switch operated. Have tried swapping swithches but nothing. I think I hear the relay operating. No up/down movement at all. Does this mean the motor is faulty. All help appreciated.

Sadly it might be time to pull the door card and take a look up close. This happened to me, in my case the window had fallen off track and fell into the motor.

Sadly, if the noise is a crackle sound then the cable around the regulator spool hub has become misaligned/corrupted. Only thing to do is get the regulator out and probably the cable has become bent...so that it will not wind on the spool hub correctly; if the cable is not bent and just crossed over on itself, it it is possible to "rewind" the cable spool.. but tricky. I would suggest invest in a replacement regulator (the original Lotus one is ridiculous) ...the Peugeot 405 fits, but you will have to adjust the cables so that they fit for the centre guide lift. Here's one on ebay...www.ebay.co.uk/itm/316322004356. Or send your old one back to SJ Sports who will refurbish it for you. Good Luck.

Thanks for replies. Roy. On undoing the 3 motor retaining bolts and taking a closer look, I can see that the cable is indeed slightly bent at bottom meaning your diagnosis is most probably correct. Well I suppose I've another job to do. Thanks

Roy666, do you think this one would work/have you tried? It looks like it's larger than the Lotus ones or other original ones from the time.

In comparison to something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/358181738298 ... BM8vravpNn

Or this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/236473577991 ... NCJV3BAHSP

Just interested, as my cables have chewed themselves up, and my motor also no longer works.

Not to worry if you don't know. I appriciate its likely a bit of a trial and error and use my judgement situation.

Thanks, Dave. I have read the Wiki a few times - the original link Roy sent says it will fit 1992 and 1994 P405s, however, other motors, that look slightly different, also say they will fit those years, hence my slight confusion.
