Preparing for repaint

Postby tungi1904 » Thu 05.03.2026, 18:03

I recently bought a Lotus Elan +2. The car had been primed a number of years ago and is full of micro blisters. I decided that way forward is:
1. Remove all paint from the car and go down to the fibreglass
2. Bake in paint booth, about 60 C.
3. Waterproof fibreglass with the appropriate solution. Any ideas what product I should use?
4. Spray car with high build primer. Any suggestions?
5. Repair defects cracks, pin holes, area’s that might need filling etc.
6. Smooth car complete, ready for painting
7. Spray top coat

Any suggestions would be welcome.
