Heavy clutch pedal

Morning all after some advice. My clutch pedal is very heavy. Clutch itself seems fine and I am aware that it was replaced around 7k miles ago (longer in years than mileage due to use) any advice on items to check before taking the plunge to have the gearbox pulled out and another replacement. Point of note that the last clutch was a Kevlar replacement over standard kit. Is this relevant? Thanks in advance

My only real observation is to ask if it has suddenly (or over a time) got to the point where it is heavy, or if it has always been like it.

If it has always been like it, there is possibly nothing to be done, unless you change the whole unit, as it is probably engineered to have the cover plate springs matched to the friction disc requirements...... so you will need to live with it.

If it is a change which you have noticed, then it may indicate worn springs in the cover plate (unlikely with the mileage reported).

If you can cope with it, and it still works, I'd leave it all alone (but that is just me!)

not intending to teach how to suck eggs. but with the mindset it can happen to the best of us.

did you have a close look in the footwell for any carpet or other debris stuck somewhere ?

sometimes we just jump to the worst case scenario and forget to check the easy/simple suspects first

Thanks. Defo not carpet etc. I did t know if the cable could be the cause but not sure that would make the peddle feel so heavy. It really is not very easy or comfortable to use and when out the other evening in traffic it became very difficult not to stall. Mot made a comment also that it was heavy and after adjusting not much improvement. I understand these can be a little heavy and have only driven my one so have no real comparison

Have you checked the adjustment in accordance with the manual?

Unhook the clutch cable at the gearbox end it should be easy to move in and out. Try moving the clutch arm it should be difficult but not impossible.

Replacing the clutch cable isn't particularly difficult but I seem to remember something would only go one way at the bulkhead and a rubber grommet - something is a bit of a beach but not impossible.
