I echo Stef's comments, a brilliant day out!  The fun factor was in the  ;D category and I'm still smiling.  I had 3 sessions, first one was great, second was not, third came together again.  Felt very relaxed on the drive home watching the world go by at a far more sedate pace.<br><br>Terrific pictures Sy, thanks, blank CDs will be on their way to you.  I have about 10-15 minutes of video (which will edit to less than that) mainly trackside but some good in car stuff as well, thanks to Humph, that I'll burn to DVD.  Stef is already promised a copy, but I can do a couple of others as well.<br><br>Nige

We met him having lunch and within no time he offered to take us both out in his Excel - which was a real hoot.<br><br>Strangely most of my pics are Elan free <br><br><br><br><br><br>I took a load of pics but most are unusable as I had the camera set up wrong - that'll teach me to override the auto settings!

Monty,<br><br>Very happy with the cars handling, not so sure about the clown behind the wheel!  Handling was largely neutral really, with a little touch of expected understeer when pushing too hard.  Castle Combe has no really tight (hairpin) corners so any understeer wasn't too pronounced.  As ever the secret is keeping it smooth (which I didn't all the time) and as the man said slow in fast out.<br><br>As far as brakes go, very happy with mine (300mm discs Hi Spec Billet 4 calipers front, stock rear).  I fitted the new ceramic compound Red Stuff pads and gave them about 200 road miles to bed in before yesterday.  They are noisy when cold and you can really feel the grooves in the disc until they warm up, which they do quite quickly.  I didn't have any noticeable fade yesterday and as I was on a couple of occasions the last of the late brakers (lack of ability) I worked them quite hard, locked up an inside front momentarily on one lap.<br><br>All in all very pleased and a really good day.<br><br>Nige

Hard to say how the M100 compared to other cars.  I was passed by about 3 Elises and a very rapid Excel but equally I also passed a few Elises myself along with an Excel, an Esprit and a series 4 Seven.  There were a lot of non standard (but standard looking) cars there, including mine, so it's difficult to gauge it objectively.<br><br>Humph passengered on my second and third runs and says I was pulling 120 between Camp Corner and Avon Rise on my final run, I don't know, I was too busy to look at the speedo  :o.<br><br>Nige

Agree, didn't look at any dials really.<br><br>My brakes were fine too, didn't feel any noticable fade or problems at all.  Can't say if they were as good as Nige's though!<br><br>I think the Elan is fine, can deffo give allt he other cars a run for their money, just depend son the driver!  When the instructor took me out in Blipi he was catching and edging out the way the other drivers so Blipi certainly wasn't the problem!

that was a great day.. the elans held up very well .. with standerd brakes on most of them. i didnt make it till about 1 30 , it was quite windy out there did that effect the handling. pics look great ..
