When all this is sorted it will go like a rocket ship! ;D

One problem, when the power comes the clutch is going to go :'(

The details can be found here:

http://www.astb91.dsl.pipex.com/MountainChipMenu.html

However, the producer of the chips has just announced he has sold his last one from the current batch and more won't be available until next year.

Standard fuel is fine. Synthetic oil is preferable, if you want to be really safe (and use the extra boost a lot) then you might consider changing the oil more often but that's it.

I'm expecting more stock in the next week or so. In fact I still have a couple of boards at the moment - a couple of expected orders didn't materialise

So I have had Sinclaires fit my chip (they were doing a whole bundle of work on the car - so it was easiest). I haven't got it back yet, but when I rung them the other day, there comment was...

Bloody hell that chip is amazing... I think that they have been on the odd road test.

Anyway I am also on a rolling road day in Jan organised by Seloc. Is there anything I should be looking out for. I will have Elanscan running at the same time of that is possible.

Let us know.

Regards

Ooooo! I can join in here now! :D

Got my .95 bar chip fitted by the chip master himself at Stoneleigh!

Makes overtaking a whole new game!!! ;D

Standard fuel is fine. Well at least it has been for me. Don't fancy wasting the extra tax on special fuel.

Is there anything I should be looking out for. I will have Elanscan running at the same time of that is possible.
[/quote]
n,
it's well worth having ElanScan running. It'll allow you to see if anything's not as it should be. At the most basic level it'll let you see if the throttle is really 100% open for all data points (a funny-looking point on a Kilimanjaro run I did was because the throttle wasn't pushed all the way to the floor - without the ElanScan log to show the reason, it would just have remained a funny data point).

Make sure the results you are given are road-wheel torque and power. If they've calculated flywheel values ask what conversion factor they've used for assumed transmission losses so that you know the true measured at-the-wheels figure.

Before you go to the dyno make sure your oil and coolant are in good nick, and your static timing is spot on. Check it yourself. Static timing has been demonstrated to have a huge effect on power. Make sure your throttle gives 100% open (check on ElanScan and adjust the slack on the cable if necessary). It's also well worth fitting some sort of switch to make the fans come on when you want to keep things cool - a LOT of heat is generated. (You can make up a permanent neat Clemo-switch, or just jerry-rig a temporary thing for the dyno.)

Oh, and post the results ;D ;D

John ;)

So I finally got my car back yesterday asfter having loads of things done, Sinclairs having done an expert job as usual.

With the Kilamanjaro chip fitted - wow... no elanscan results yet, but 70 -110mph came and went (cause I almost went into the back of someone, when normally they would have been way away).

Oh what fun! Well done Alan - have a Happy Christmas and I look forward with all Elaners to what the New Year brings...

I like that log - the boost rise is smooth and steep and the boost holds 0.8 right up to top RPM. The boost control is working just as intended.

I can't look at the dyno graphs, I get an access forbidden message when I follow the links.

Nick ,
did you really take the engine to 7200 RPM, or is the scale wrong?

Also, what is your exhaust size & type and other mods setup? (And did you check your static timing was OK?)

modified to add: The graphs say that the test was performed in 3rd gear; do you know why 3rd & not the more direct ratio of 4th gear?

John

PS Alan, I get a "forbidden" message also, but if you access
http://www.chase-ideas.com/images/%20pics/ you can then access each picture individually with no error messages. (What am I doing telling you how to access something on a computer ????)
