How easy is it to replace the clutch cable on a S2? Mine has just gone and it looks straight forward from the manual, but doesn't really give you too much info. Has anyone done it and if so, can you give me some directions?

my clutch cable has just gone last night too. it's not the cable but the plastic adjuster has snapped -shortening the cable so no gears will engage.
I spent alot of time trying to get the old one out but can't get it through the bulkhead. almost had a running repair done but couldn't get the cable to reattach to the actuator arm. having a nightmare.anyone got any suggestions? ended up gettin a tow from the north of scotland to edinburgh (missing great roads! and perfect sunshine today!).
it was easy to get the cable off at each end - even without tools - it's just the bulkhead - does the wiper motor have to come out? or the dashboard?
Sarah ave you had any luck? if not i'll keep you posted with my experience. i think it's the usual elan thing - once you get all the bits out of the way for access it becomes alot easier!...maybe?

Hubby picked the clutch cable up today. Hopefully he will have a go at it on Friday. He has said he will have to take the drivers seat out because he can't see under the dash otherwise. Glad I'll be at work

Well Hubby and his dad are working on it as we speak. Its not going well They had to drop the wiper motor to get to one end and found that the cable hadn't snapped, it had just come off. But it was very stretched so we thought it was best just to put the new one on. Its being a bit of a sod really. Will post more later when they've finished and stopped muttering loudly to themselves

haven't heard of anyone saying they have done it, but I would not expect it to be too hard -- just examine both working ends for any trickery . . .
Does it work all the time for you?:?
