Lotus Elan Central

I am thinking about adding some Momo seats to my Elan as the stock seats are a bit long in the tooth.....I just went through all the prior posts and this topic doesn't seemed to have been discussed.

Wondering if adding Momos is possible/degree of difficulty

DavidJT has Sparco (I think) seats in his Elan, he was not impressed by the quality of them. They are lighter in weight (good thing) but dependant on model fitted may well have less adjustability. You can get the standard seats restuffed and recovered (in material of your choice, coloured leather is popular) by Lotus, there are some very nice examples in cars around here, Sy Paul P in his white car that he has now sold as examples. I don't know costs, you would need to ask someone who has had it done.

There is a British car meet this Sunday, the 11th in Palo Alto -- I recommend you show up (see thread in NorCal Events for details). You can see all the great things Marie has done to her car, including her Momo seats . . .

long time no speak!

I just recently took the elan (she was sleeping comfortably for the past 6 months in the garage) out after buying a 2003 Maserati Spider ($3 per gallon, 10 mpg :cry:

) ...the elan is working well and a blast and getting 30mpg at the sametime! , I am using the Everest Chip and I never got to thank Philbo??, for creating that chip....the thing is AWEsome....

I would love to come to the meet, but my morning is tied up, and I am heading to a concert over at Shoreline in the early evening....hopefully you guys will be there in the later afternoon, I'd love to check out all the m100s!

The stripe on the SE seats was obviously a bad idea someone had in the 1980s- not that they ever reached you over there - but shape wise, Elan seats are perfect; they are an integral part of the car's top down styling - don't change them!

I know it's probably not very good for your Sunday morning hangover Paul, but how could you not like this ?? They're just so stylish and match the red shag pile carpets and door trims perfectly

See the pics a ways down on this page of my thread. I've added the Momo RS GT to my car. Overall they fit fairly well. Without the rollbar they would have been a LOT easier to install. It was just quite time consuming to make the seat brackets and to get them fitting just right.
