lens over rear number plate

lens over rear number plate

Ive noticed that a few Elans have a lens over the rear number plate like the ones on the rears lights. Was this a standard part feature?

Standard up until VIN # 8264 (June '91ish). Thereafter a revised plinth minus the perspex.

cheers - i was wondering if mine was missing it having just bought an elan - but that explains why it hasnt got this.

I believe the boys in blue complained about them so they were removed. Not sure if it is certain, but obviously makes it hard for speed cameras to get the reg...
