Just thought I'd repeat my post from the Stall thread :

I've just spoken to club Lotus and this is what they say :

If you park in the hall then you CANNOT leave until 4PM, so if you want to leave early the you need to park with the other cars (which I guess would still be in the undercover cattlesheds).

They also denied all knowledge of M100 owners getting in for free and said everyone needs a payed for ticket ?

Are we going to struggle to get 50 Elans for inside the hall or are we going to have a last minute rush?

I'll be parking outside then.......and to be honest if its a crap 'show' and I have to pay (ie just a load of people selling rusty parts ) then its the last one I'll paying to go into......I'd rather stand outside and talk to the other owners and look at their cars.......
lets face it its only ever been an auto jumble even though they try to call it a 'show'......club lotus only ever seem to be in it for what they get out of of it....ie £££££.....another reason why I left club lotus to join my local group and the lotus drivers club......much better run!!

I reckon we go down and if we have to pay and are on show then its a start your engines and go when you like making as much noise as you can.....the nore noise you make the more likely you are to be let out..

sorry for the rant but CL really p!$$ me off......

cheers

Well i haven't got anything to sell and unless i see some decent mats for me footwell i probably will only be buying a bacon roll and coffee. The main reason i'm going is to meet up with some of the LECers that i've met over the last few years. it's great not having to type when conversing for once  Also some of the guys on this forum have put a lot of time, effort and expense into the LEC stand which from what i can make out will be quite something. As for payment to get into the show, Nige is the person who has been negociating so i should leave it with him.
Could the 'Hokey-Cokey' actually be what it's all about?

I'll be there as it's a good crack talking to the fellow Elan owners on the stand + catching up on what's new in the Elan world.

Ok, it's a parts fair but lets not forget the Elan is the featured car, so I for one will be doing all I can to get my Elan there, as if nothing else, it'll show these stuff Lotus Owners Club types, that we're still a force to be reconed with.

Now if that ain't worth £6, then I dunno what is.

Just an FYI--my stealth Punto awaits at LHR, and I plan to stop at Stoneleigh while on a little holiday in the UK. I'm looking forward to a super M100 show and saying hello :) (and maybe even finding a few bits for my classic Elan S3)

Cheers, Joel

As there seems to be a little confusion I thought I'd add to it!

Firstly Stoneleigh is not a 'Lotus Show; and is not portrayed as such by Club Lotus. It is clearly marketed as an 'Independent Lotus Parts Fair' with the sub line of 'A massive Lotus Autojumble, Accessory. Regalia and Memorabilia sale' sounds pretty self explanatory to me and yes, images of piles of rusty bits and anoraks do come to mind. However, as many have already said, stuff the actual event, it's an excuse for those of us here to get together and talk aboout anything we like (although our cars will probably feature somewhere) in person as opposed to typing. The stand is a focal point for people to meet at and thanks to the excellent support from a good number of people here it should show us and the M100 in a good light.

I have the bumf from Club Lotus in front of me and the basics are as follows.

Build up Saturday 12 Nov 3.30PM - 6.00PM (My problem)

Build up Sunday 13 Nov 8.00AM - 10.00AM, latest acceptance arrival time is 9.00PM, I will check with Sam at Club Lotus how the timings and mechanics of getting the cars in will work, I envisage a grand arrival and park in the hall around the stand between 0930 and 1000.

Once in the hall cars are in there until the fair finishes at 4.00PM, the 1/4 tank of fuel stipulation applies only to cars for sale, but no leakers will be accepted in the hall. Bottom line, if you want to leave before 4.00PM do not park in the main hall.

The agreement I have with Sam at Club Lotus is that I will collect entry tickets for all those who have posted their attendance here when I set the stand up on Saturday afternoon. You will be all classed as participants and thus the tickets will be complimentary. I will pass the tickets to someone at the Hotel on Saturday evening and the grand arrival at Stoneleigh will have to be arranged by someone else as I'll be at Stoneleigh early on Sunday Morning (I also won't be in an Elan as the stand stuff won't fit).

As you can see there are a couple of gaps to fill but nothing too horrendous at this point. I'll post more info once I've spoken to Sam again.
