replacement rubber seals around door and screen

Anyone know if it is possible to get hold of the rubber foam seals that go around the outside of the windscreen between the doors and roof. Some of these have split and the foam absorbs water and can leak in places.

If so are these easy to fit?

I have exactly the same problem.

Spoke to Paul Matty's last week only to be told that there are no supplies and Lotus are trying to source another manufacturer.

My enquiries haven't gone beyond that, mainly because I can't get PM to sell me a hard top to go with them!

Are there many people here who need new seals? Perhaps if we can get enough people then Lotus might pull their finger out??

have you guys tried talking to trim tech?.....
they were the original manufacturer of the hoods and are currently making new ones with all the seals.....I've just had a new hood fitted with new frame and seals and the seals that were on my old hood which trim tech took were still good....so they should at least have some very good second hand seals!!!!

Are we talking at cross purposes or do Trim Technology change the seals that run up the sides of the windscreen (A-posts?) between the windscreen and the front part of the door window?

I thought it was only the seals that are physically attached to the hood?

'a' post seals or hood seals?......between doors and roof means round the hood to me...between the doors and windscreen mean 'a' post seals......

mine were a bit past it too but I used the black goo from halfords to reseal them........at halfords its now a loctite product..40ml tube....£4 a go
called loctite superflex black (think they did a clear one too!!)
halfords cat number 24802
this works like normal sealant and is very good stuff....and its also easy to get off if you make a mess of it

Brow fish said between door and roof so would think it`s the intermedate or maybe even the front hood seal which goes part way round were the door class is.
IIRC SJ`s do the front hood seal at £145 and the intermediate for about £30

But i`d try Trim tech 1st

Sorry, just to clarify what i meant. Reading it back i didnt explain it very well.

The bit that i am after is the bit that runs down the side of the windscreen and seals to the door windows. The previous owner had sealed them with black goo. However wher the original seals are split they absorb water like a sponge and the goo looks unsightly. i want to replace with new seals if possible.

When I had my A pillar seals replaced on my first Elan, I replaced the runners they sit in as well, at about £30 a side.

Just seemed cheaper and quicker than trying to remove the glue from the old ones. So with parts and fitting cost me nearly £500 and it still was not much better

I did mine this way....its all about how steady you are with the tube!!!! have a practise first......dont forget that you can create this away from the car and then use the same sealant to stick it on.....its possible to do these in different ways but what you end up with once its cured is plyable rubber!!!
buy a tube and play!!!!
