John

Don't know, but you could phone him and ask.
The rear window is no worse at misting up than the soft top window, so I don't think it's an issue really.
As I said earlier, the main problem is that no two cars are alike and dimensions vary. Likewise, the height (or difference in height) that your windows come up to can cause problems.

So thinking allowed, would thicker rubber seals around the aperture elevate the most common problem with fitting door windows

Thinking's always allowed John!

Sorry. The benefit of the new GRP mounted seals is that they can be fitted as flush or as proud as required. I'd guess there was about 5-8mm to play with.
My passenger door window doesn't cant in as much as the driver's so this flexibility came in handy.

Great to see the Hardtop discussion is still hot. Haven't checked the forum for a long time and as I hadn't heard anything further from Simon, I guessed the project had died. Glad it hasn't.

Just to bring me up to date. Simon, are you able to produce the tops still? (i appreciate the fitting difficulties, but I like a challenge :? ) and if so, what parts can you provide, what parts / further work would be required to make it servicable and can it be formed in bare naked carbon fibre? SO many questions

And finally... How much for a fibre glass and / or a carbon fibre version?

Many thanks

Matt

P.S. Stef... any chances you have any more detailed pic of you carbon fibre top? love to see them.

Matt

Debbie has asked me to let you know that Simon is not too well at the moment.
He intends to reply to your post when he's better.
Please be patient.

Sy

P.S. Get well soon Simon.

Matt (and any other would-be hardtop purchasers).

Simon is pretty poorly right now. He needs time to recuperate, but Debbie has assured me that he has every intention of continuing the hardtop production, in time. But, there will be some inevitable delays.
In the meantime, I will field all enquiries reference the product and, where possible, I'll answer as many questions as you might have.

Please do not attempt to contact Simon directly (Debbie will be extremely upset if she finds him answering hardtop-related questions during his spell of R&R).

Thanks for your understanding.

Sy

These all look great! But what about US?

Postby Hegg » Wed 22.03.2006, 00:25

Now that I finally have an Elan (woo hoo!), I've been looking a little more into the hard top deal. Although there are many options listed here, does anyone know if there is anything at all available in the U.S.? I finally emailed Paul Matty and got this:

We n o longer supply the M100m hardtops but I can put you in touch with
the manufacturer direct. It is a company called SPC Design and their contact number is 01900 825712.

Not being in the U.K., and having not seen a whole lot of information about SPC in this thread, I don't even know if they actually make one or what they look like. Clive seems to hint that they just bought their hardtops from SPC anyway.

Any chance someone from that side of the pond has more information?

Simon K is who you need to get in touch with; but as he is ill I suggest you send Simon V ("Sy") a PM and he can likely advise you on the product and availability, etc.

I have seen and examined them personally and they are BEAUTIFUL!! I would have one personally but my car is a fair-weather garage queen and lives in CA . . .

Yep, I'm collating all enquiries at present...but, please e-mailme with your interest.
I'm guessing here, but SPC are probably Simon's initials.

I do wish PM would stop refering people to Simon though - I've told them several times that he's ill and all initial enquiries should come to me.
