Donington Pub Crawl on Saturday night?

It's a good aspiration, however in previous years the problem has been transport, or rather the lack of it.

The taxi companies around Donington seem to be non-existent, or not interested in our business. In 2004 we made it eventually, however in 2005 the party was split by some of us being able to find/beg transport into town, some of us not being able to, then some of us who made it in not being able to get back until very late indeed by taxi or begging a lift.

Is there somebody local to Donington who could find out if taxis would be available, or even if we could hire a bus?

If no transport can be arranged, we need a plan B to ensure we can all be in the same place at the same time.

Is there anybody local to Donington who can explain the lack of taxis and propose an alternative for Saturday night?

edited to say: Enright's Friday night curry organisation was excellent. I hope we can find a similar way to get us all together on Saturday.

I'll see what I can find out.
Last time there was nothing set in stone for the Saturday evening, so because I hadn't been asked, I hadn't anticipated getting involved in organisation of it, and it got a bit disjointed.
Still a quarter of a year to go yet though!

It was explained to me while at Dony, what does "Pub Crawl" means. Until then I thought it was a Pub named "Crawl" and the thread was about just that.

I must say I was greatly amused at Rambo's one-man-barcrawl, even more so when he stated he was drinking coke and non-alcoholic beer. He only wandered into our pub/restaurant per chance!

Donington village centre was flippin awful!

But it sounds like ChrisT, JimP and Costas hit the jackpot. They found a very good place in Shardlow (about 3 miles away) called The Navigation, which did good food and would seat as many as required on the Saturday next year.

From my memories of staying in the Burton on Trent area many moons ago, the Navigation Inn at Shardlow was good if it's the one I'm thinking of right on the canal ? We'll need to get booked up for next year - unless you're going to claim your freebie at the Tudor Inn. LOL !!!
