Anglesey Track Day 22nd April

Track day at Anglesey on Saturday 22nd April organised by Lotus enthusiasts
We’re trying to encourage novices and ladies but all levels welcome!
Format: 3 x 20-minute sessions per hour, six hours track time 10am-1pm, 2-5pm
Aiming to have all lady/all Lotus sessions, depending on bookings
Sign-in from 8.45am, briefing at 9.30am
Featuring Dave Minter available for one-on-one driving instruction at £20 per half-hour session
Two additional senior ARDS instructors available
An Elise available for self-drive hire at £85 per session
Passenger hot laps in an Elise for £30
Demo laps with Dave Minter in an Exige supplied by Lotus Cars
Spectators welcome!
Informal social evening at a local hostelry where you can pick Dave’s brain about Lotus, the Elise concept and car control
Fun awards, prizes for best tryer etc.
B+B, hotel information available
Including buffet lunch and light refreshments

Price per car: £120

Dear Simon,

Hi and many thanks for your enthusiastic response to the email re Lotus enthusiasts track day!

Please find additional details below.

We'd like to make this a social event so spectators and passengers are welcome. There is no charge for passenger rides in participants' cars.
Details about the buffet lunch will be confirmed soon. We'd need to know by mid-March if lunch for guests is required, at a cost of £10 per person.
There is an all-day facility selling hot and cold food and drinks, e.g. burgers, rolls etc plus you're welcome to bring a picnic.
If you don't have a helmet, the circuit provides a variety of sizes, included in the £120 cost for the day.
Sessions with Dave Minter should be booked as soon as possible as places are limited.
Dave Minter was the Chief Development Engineer on the original Elise project and is also a qualified ARDS instructor. Dave will be available at the track for driver instruction and in the evening at a social get-together to answer questions about his many years at Lotus, his involvement in various Lotus models, most recently the Elise concept, car control etc.

Lotus Cars will supply an Exige with "half-sticky" tyres for Dave to demonstrate driving techniques towards the end of the day.
You can book passenger lap rides in an Elise in advance or on the day but if you'd like to hire the Elise please let me know as soon as possible.

The day starts with signing-in from 8.45am, followed by the obligatory Briefing for all participants.
On-track action is from 10am-1pm and 2-5pm.

Do you need trackday insurance for this as well? If so, where do I enquire for prices? If I can whip up the money I'd love to go to this - I have familly in angelsey and bangor that I've been meaning to visit for a while....

I'm new to the track thing, what is the setup? How long would I be on the track?

I see it's £120 per car, but would not want to track the elan, so maybe looking to hire an elise. Does that mean I would be paying out £200 + tuition for 20 mins?

On a typical session track day all attendees will be split up into one of three groups; novice, intermediate and advanced, depending on track experience. You should nominate your ability group when booking your track day. The Circuit opens with the first session at 10:00am with the advanced group for 20 minutes, followed by the intermediate group for 20 minutes and then the novice group for 20 minutes. This rotation will repeat up until about 1:00pm when the Circuit closes for lunch. A 1 hour break is taken, the Circuit's snack bar will be open open for food and refreshments. The Circuit re-opens for the first afternoon session at about 2:00pm with the advanced group, the intermediate group at 2:20pm and then finally the novice group at 2:40pm. Again this rotation will repeat up until about 5:00pm when the circuit closes for the day. You should receive 6 x 20 minute sessions in total.

Ouch, if I understand correctly, to hire an elise for the day would cost £510 :shock:

That's a bit too rich for my blood.

My mate used to live in Llanberis, right at the base of snowdon, so I can confidently say, Stef, you're a nutter. :-D

Good roads to snowdon though. Just mind the stone walls and sheep which like to stand in the road!
Track day is tempting. Will see how many notes I have left after my new front wishbones. Probably naff all cos they aint cheap :cry:

I used to stay in a cottage up the hill the other side of the lake, Fachwen (sp) so I know the area well and have had a few sheep and goat dodges in my time! :lol:

Can get far too congested in summer though with a lot of only single track roads.
