Must say i'm not doubting your word Paul, but as its mainly just flat plastic without all the dimples etc that the actual lenses have, i would have thought it would of been a lot easier to make a mould for these, than the lenses, but if there not interested, then so be it !

Hi Paul,

Its purely down to size regarding the covers. When you see the clear fronts and my new clear rears you will see theres very little they cant do.

But Im sure if someone on here gave them a blank cheque and said make me some what ever the cost they would give it a go.

It has been said everytime that although the vacuum Chamber is pretty big, the mould will be huge to make the full outers.

Cheers

I don't know anything about size of moulds Paul, just thought, with clear lenses, thats the sort of thing you either like or don't, so although there is a market out there for them, its a limited one, whereas with the covers, there will always be a market. I know a lot of elan owners who's covers are split, damaged or just grubby, & would jump at the chance of having nice new covers at a sensible price, opposed to having to fork out £130 a side for complete new light unit. Just seems a shame, whilst theres a company there, already making some of the lenses.

Thats a fair point Paul,

But the point im tying to make is £130 for the full assy is a very good price.

I dont think anyone is not saying its a great idea though, just that due to cost and size wise its not going to happen with this company.

Note: Stripping the units down and cleaning everthing makes a huge difference too.

Cheers

Paul, so when you have these rear side indicator lenses changed to clear ones, is the intention to still use the plastic cover ?

Yep,

The Current Lenses are only tacked in position the outer covers do make the whole unit water proof.

This is going to be the best solution out of a few ideas we had. We are getting an up2date look with the Clear lenses, but without changing the orignal look of the car.

The first Clear Indicator Lense for the Elan Rear has been produced and as you can see looks great.

We are hoping to get them to me mid week so i can get them on and take some photos and get the car MOTed asap.

The other 2 sets will be following in the next week.

Cheers

Hi Gary,

Glad you like them, but i really didn't do anything it was all the company's hard work!

Heres another photo of the rears next to the old ones.

I think they will make a huge difference.

Cheers

The more I see them the better they look.

Go on, twist my arm a bit further - how much for both fronts and rears?

Good Morning.

Well I fitted the clear lenses to the rear light assy last night :D

The job went pretty well and only got stressfull when i started 5 minute epoxying my fingers together and a paper towel!

I have been given a final price for the sets:

The Fronts are £69.95 Inc Bulbs and P+P
The Rears are £99.95 Inc Bulbs and P+P

Both Fronts and Rears are £150.00 Inc Bulbs and P+P

The rears might sound pricey, but with them being thin lenses and large size they are very time consuming to make.

As you can see the price for both fronts and rears are very good.

Here they are then, i think you will agree they look great :-D

LoL

Are you joking? I like the red lenses, just hated the dated orange, didn't want to Trev it up just made it look a little nicer.

Anyway the car pasted its MOT today, the lights didn't get a second look into i mentioned they used to be Amber!

He asked me for the companys details to see if theres any other projects they fancied doing!

Im a happy bunny for the moment.... just wondering what i can change next.

Cheers

I'm right with Paul on this one now - they really transform the car.

I wish I could buy and fit some before Donny. But I'm already spending £175 this weekend, have my insurance and MOT in a couple of weeks, and need to put 2 other vehicles back on the road in order to give the Elan a much needed rest.

Paul,

I would be interested in the fronts & backs, what is the process for ordering? Do I place the order through you or go to the company direct (didn't spot any contact details in the thread)?

Thanks

Nice work, Paul. :smt023

Nice garage floor planking too!

how about a tutorial with pictures about how to remove the clear lens unit cover and polish it all up -- might get more people interested. Even the Federal Elan has red lenses but would look nice with the clears I think . . .

Thanks Doug,

I took plenty of photos while i built them back up so i will use them to help with the strip down. Im sorting instructions out for the company too so as soon as i get time will do it.

Will a Word Doc be ok?

The photos with the lights on the car dont do it justice, they look so good it feels like ive got a new car..... stupid i know.

Cheers

Do you know anymore about this or should I contact them direct?
