I havent looked at it yet but is it easy to remove? I may be being dim but i thought i'd ask before I attempt incase there are any quirks i need to know about.

Pretty straightforward. Remove the oddments tray to give access to the bolts/screws that hold it to the car, free handbrake gaiter from console and disconnect window switches. then pull free over handbrake and gear lever.

Don't forget the two screws that are under the window switches!

Looks as though a previous owner has been 'adding lightness' to mine as I don't have screws under the window switches!

These screws under the switches are a pain in the R's unless your screwdriver is magnetic! When they were originally assembled, a small blob of black sealant was used to hold the washers to the screw, so you may need quite a strong magnetic effect to lift both screw and washer(s).

Out of interest, as the S2 centre console has the switches in a different place to the SE, does the S2 have screws under the window switches?

Ok, I feel like a bit of a dumb-a$$ asking this, but is the removal of the handbrake gaiter as complicated as it seems? I have the center console loose, but the ebrake gaiter is still attached to it, and thus I can't lift the console over the brake handle. It appears as though the gaiter is held by screws that I need to access by partially lifting the console whilst standing on my head. Even then, it seems as though it may not be possible without an offset screwdriver and growth of a 3rd hand. Is this correct? :oops:

The handbrake gaitor is held in position by a rectangular shaped springy frame. You have to get your finger down one of the sides & work it out, bit fiddly but quite easy really.

Thanks Paul. I did get it sorted out. Just was afraid to push too hard on the rim of the gaiter without knowing how it was attached. On to the wiring issues!
