Classic Le Mans 7th-9th July 2006

Anyone interested in a trip to the Le Mans Classic this year??

I am looking for other drivers to form a small group and/or I would take a passenger. I would normally go for a few days, say Wed to Mon and camp here http://www.chateau-de-chanteloup.com/gb/index.html

midnight ferry to caen on weds/thurs and then coming back mon/tues
I think we may have a spare place too.....although our 'club' might have a taker for that ticket as we're in the bugatti enclosure with our motors...with the classic clubs...
I'll be in my 67+2...the others will be in baby elans...but if the weathers going to be a scorcher I may take the m100 instead

Doing the regular Le mans this June (see other thread), but I'm very interested in doing the classic 2007. Will it be similar dates ?

Tour de France starts in London July 2007 and I'de love to see both events.

the LMC is a biannual event at the moment and the ACO are not AFAIK planning on changing it......started in 2002 and this years is the 3rd version......
next one should be 2008 after this years extravaganza!!!!

I've booked a camping space with Clubmotorsport and will be heading there on the Thursday; decided to do Le Mans proper in the years when there is no Classic.

This is the plan:
Travel at moderate(!) pace down to Portsmouth on Wednesday July 5th to
catch the overnight ferry to Caen, I have booked sufficient cabin space
for all of us and reclining seats will also be provided.
Take the backroads route from Caen to Le Mans, set up camp on the Maison
Blanche site; most of the organised trips will not be arriving until the
following day, so we should be able to sort out a good position, neither
too close nor too far from the totally excellent French ***** camping
toilet facility. Bring your own paper; in fact, probably best to bring
your own toilet, basin and water too.
Friday is the first day of practice, as we are already there, we will
see all of it, those arriving later will not. QED.
CLOG is an invited club so the organisers will be providing us with a
parking display area on the Bugatti circuit, you may make use of this if
you wish.
Return home is via the overnight ferry from Caen on Monday 10th July;
this will hopefully be via a different backroads route and we should be
able to avoid those terribly coarse fellows who race around in TVR's etc
generally upsetting the locals and annoying les vaches (as the French
are apt to call their lawmen). On the spot fines are given for just
about anything these days and whilst there are no Gatsos, every cop from
Caen to Cap Ferrat seems to carry a speed gun these days.

What is included:
Ferry
Entry to circuit, including invited club privileges.
Camping

Cost:
Ferry is about £208 as far as I can tell, (I have booked two 4 berth
cabins and 3 recliners and divided the number I first thought of by 5).
Race Ticket at reduced club rate is about £26
Camping is about £52

What is not included:
Car insurance
Petrol
Breakdown recovery
Personal insurance
Food
Drink
T-shirt money

there may be room for additional people too but youve been included with us if thats ok with you
