Lotus Elan Central

As I am getting nearer to buying my first elan I was thinking about heading to Donington in March with my wife and kid. Can someone tell me what I can expect to see and do at this show as it is around a six hour drive for me to get there. Also how much is it for entry on the Saturday.

Hi, welcome to the fold! Check out the section in this forum dedicated to the 2006 Donington Event. Tickets are £7.50 per adult pre ordered through Club Lotus http://www.clublotus.co.uk/nationalevents.html or £8.50 on the gate.

Aswell as seeing the largest gathering of Elan M100's in one place since production at Lotus, along with large numbers of other Lotus marques, there will be cars for sale, numerous specialists selling the parts you may or will need and meet other like minded owners.

Thoroughly recommended.

Thanks for the information, I had looked at the Donington section of the forum but it didn't go into specifics of what would actually be at the show. It certainly sounds as if I should make the effort and attend.

That £7.50 pre-ordered ticket from Club Lotus will also get you admission on Sunday as well.

If you look at the Donington accommodation section you will see that Travel Lodge (www.travelodge.co.uk) have a promo on at the moment - £26 a night for a family room and this is at the MOTO lodge, junction 23a, M1 - the meeting place for the Sat rendezvous and only a few miles from the venue

If you're already an Elan fan then you really want to be at Donington already when the convoy arrives. Even Club Lotus searched out Sy to tell him how impressive the sight was after last year's arrival.

Does anyone have a link to last year's pics? I can't find them anymore.

Thats me booked in to stay in Chester for three nights (I had to agree on a Lotus Show one day and shopping trip next day type deal so Chester fitted the bill). I will probably miss the Elan convoy due to the 80 mile trip from Chester but I am sure that I will pick up some helpful information during the course of the day.

Unfortunately I missed the show as my three year old son had a really heavy cold all week and a weekend away was the last thing that we needed. The show looked good from all the photo's that I have seen and it looked like a great turnout of Elan's. What is the next show that is well attended by Elan's I'm gutted at losing out on much needed "what to look for advice" for my first Elan purchase.

You could keep an eye out on the UK events section - I'm sure the Scottish mob will have a clan gathering this spring/summer.

Failing that, there's always the Club Lotus gathering at the Bo'ness car museum on the 2nd Wed. in every month, the Callander classic in late summer/autumn, the Stoneleigh parts fair in Nov. etc...

Where are you based anyway ? We have about 3-4 M100's in Edinburgh, the same in Glasgow, a couple in Aberdeen, a couple in Fife, 1 in Ayrshire, 1 down Dumfries way and 1 in Inverness etc............
