You could keep an eye out on the UK events section - I'm sure the Scottish mob will have a clan gathering this spring/summer.

Failing that, there's always the Club Lotus gathering at the Bo'ness car museum on the 2nd Wed. in every month, the Callander classic in late summer/autumn, the Stoneleigh parts fair in Nov. etc...

Where are you based anyway ? We have about 3-4 M100's in Edinburgh, the same in Glasgow, a couple in Aberdeen, a couple in Fife, 1 in Ayrshire, 1 down Dumfries way and 1 in Inverness etc............

Paisley's Stevo's territory - listen and look out for a blue beast. Scott is also in Glasgow somewhere and he's got a black one. Alan also hails from out West but his purple Ribena mobile is still off the road after an MOT failure.

Black Beastie lives in Bearsden and often prowls the boulevard and loch lomond looking for pray.

Used to go down the rock on Sat's to watch the sons but given up on that pish this season.

As the weather improves will be out prowling on a more regular basis.

Aprt from Stevo and myself there are a couple of tatty ones (blue and grey) seen parked in the west end from time to time.

Scottish Motor services on woodlands Rd have a n early red one (red not pink) but not worth the asking.

I used to watch the sons myself many moons ago but got fed up with the lack of entertainment. I saw a silk red elan a few weeks ago going through Dumbarton but I would say that I have only seen two others in the past year. Im probably going to wait until after the summer now before buying something. How do you find getting spares etc north of the border ? This is the one thing that is playing on my mind that I might be as well upping my budget and trying to get a fairly cheap elise. Although I promised myself in 1990 that I would own an elan one day and 2006 will probably be the year.

The Elan is a more practical, 365 day a year car than the Elise and gets lots of admiring glances and comments. There are some crackers around now for low money. There's a great black one on this site, WillB has a yellow one etc.... If you wait until summer prices will probably go highe.r

Spares are no problem - just as easy north of the border as south. Also a great mechanic that we all use from time to time - Kenny Broons at Braehead.

Go on - splash out - your only young once !

Im going to use the elan as an every day car and my wife will use our other car (BMW) to ferry my son about in, so I need a car that is capable of doing around 100 miles a week fairly comfortably although I am prepared to sacrifice my current luxuries. I'm lucky to already have a trusted mechanic who I used to prepare my cars for sprints and hillclimbs a few years ago so I know that he could turn his hand to an Elan easily.

I use my car every day of the year come rain snow or on the rare occasions the sun peaks out.

In the 2 years ive had the car she's only let me down twice!.... Neither was really the cars fault, first was the gear cables breaking in the first 2 weeks of owership, and the 2nd was the carrier board for the ESM Chip failing in the ECU putting the car in a rough limp home I dont wanna idle mode.

You wont regret buying an elan, she will bring a smile to your face every day.

Well there will be an obvious bias towards the Elan here however for good reasons.

It has been interesting to see that most people I see at Donington come back again and again. Most people seem to keep their Elan and many use them everyday.

I am very sure you will never regret it, just go buy and let the fun begin! :-D

Had Elans for 8 years now and used them every day for getting to work with hardly any problems. Most reliable cars I have ever owned.

Its good to hear so many people saying that you can run an elan all year round without major problems. I probably wouldn't be ready to buy one untill July and obviously that is when values will be at their strongest, so that is why I will probably wait until October before I take the plunge.
