Dave i can appreciate just how you feel it happened to me in the golf club car park to my rear bumper - completely wrecked it. These arseholes know they've done it but are such low life scum that they can't stand up to their responsibilities. I suspect that the fu%ker who did it to me was probably drunk as there was a function on that day.

I was moving a sheet board onto my non-lotus car outside Wickes the other day, unfortunately the wind took it as I got the rack ready and it didn't dent but scuffed the car two spaces away on one door. Knew it was so easy to run off but left a note for the owner in the end as I would be well peeved if it was role-reversed.

My only worry is that in this day of claiming they are going to stick it straight through the insurers and try to claim against me personally for a whole new door where a respray would do (checked the damage). However no contact for 2 weeks so fingers crossed they are so loaded they are not bothered.

Yeah, someone also knocked in the front bumper of my elan and no note, no real paint damage, but the bumper is slightly misaligned and needs taking apart and re-aligning......summer job I feel!

thats one of the good things about these camera phones in being able to record anything like this. surprised they haven't contacted you - perhaps it was a hire car!!

anyone whos car has been damaged by someone who's not insured or they disappear without leaving a note etc can just call there insurance company and ask about the "motor insurance bureau" who have a fund for such incidents.

oooops, forgot to log in ....that was me with the Wickes board. I remember when I had a car, parked on the grass varge (completely off the pavement) with a 6" high kerb and the car still got hit (reckon by a van) damaging the two doors and the front wing and they drove off. Lucky it was due to be scrapped once the MOT and tax ran out (although it hadn't been too bad before).

Ha, the Motor Insurance Bureau - I had an stolen X5 set on fire and sent crashing into the tree outside my house. It killed the tree, damaged the house and destroyed the classic car on the driveway i was doing up. The whole thing was pretty major, the Police were there and issued a crime number. As my car was undergoing restoration, it had no insurance, tax etc however the MIB turned round and said tough.....the house insurance will pay for the house damage and the car is uninsured so we do not cover it and beside the value i paid for the car (£350) was the minimum excess anyway. So I lost a few £100's, had to rebuild my driveway myself and had to make a big claim on my own house insurance. Also if you have fully comp they will not cover the damage AND you have to report the incident to the police within 24 hours too!!

Saying that my sister was involved in another (unrelated) accident with an uninsured driver and had to claim and she did get most of her money back, so its not all bad.

Wow, thats amazing, hope you got the insurance to sort everything out in the end.

To cap mine off, my brother was upstairs asleep, slept through the whole thing with two sets of fire alarms going off, people banging on the door and sirens going. He eventually woke up towards the end, wondered what all the racket was, opened his door to see the whole house full of smoke, just before he opened the front door he realised he needed to dress first so went back up and got dressed.

Came back down again and went out giving everybody a shock as they didn't expect anyone to be inside!

The next door neighbour even got it all on video!!
