oooops, forgot to log in ....that was me with the Wickes board. I remember when I had a car, parked on the grass varge (completely off the pavement) with a 6" high kerb and the car still got hit (reckon by a van) damaging the two doors and the front wing and they drove off. Lucky it was due to be scrapped once the MOT and tax ran out (although it hadn't been too bad before).
Ha, the Motor Insurance Bureau - I had an stolen X5 set on fire and sent crashing into the tree outside my house. It killed the tree, damaged the house and destroyed the classic car on the driveway i was doing up. The whole thing was pretty major, the Police were there and issued a crime number. As my car was undergoing restoration, it had no insurance, tax etc however the MIB turned round and said tough.....the house insurance will pay for the house damage and the car is uninsured so we do not cover it and beside the value i paid for the car (£350) was the minimum excess anyway. So I lost a few £100's, had to rebuild my driveway myself and had to make a big claim on my own house insurance. Also if you have fully comp they will not cover the damage AND you have to report the incident to the police within 24 hours too!!
Saying that my sister was involved in another (unrelated) accident with an uninsured driver and had to claim and she did get most of her money back, so its not all bad.
