I'm with Monty and Dico, if the price drops to £250 all-in then I'm up for it.

An unfortunate need to shell out for new rear discs has left the funds a bit sparse, so can't go any higher than £250.

Just had a thought ( ) Will it be possible to check/alter the timing when I have it fitted and rolling road? If its going to boost to 0.75 bar it would be sensible to have it right.

If we manage to get it for £250 i`m a Definite. But before i have it fitted i`ve to do a gearbox change which hopefully i will be doing next weekend and then i`ve got to fit the stiffy :-D

so

Manchester, fitted and with the oval tail with no inner.

Edited:-

If the rolling road is still going for £25 per run, i`ll just go for the one run after the exhaust is fitted.

Dovey,
Check that the base timing is correct (16 deg BTDC) now; the car will run all the better for it, with or without a new exhaust. The ECU controls the dynamic timing; you can't alter it.

The only person who knows how to alter timing maps, and has bought the kit to do it, is ESM. I suspect that the next version of the mountain chips which ESM is working on may well involve a timing map optimised for higher boost. However this is a long term hobby-type investigation which will be nice when/if it is fully developed and not something to expect by any specific deadline.

Absolutely John. I've never checked the timing so it's well overdue, but it would be nice to have it done all in one go. Rolling road, timing, exhaust and rolling road again to see yummy hp gain.

I'm up for a system for an SE, so at £250 count me in please.

Any more (it's at about £280ish atm?) and it would depend how soon it all goes through. Either way it'll be the standard tailpipe and delivered without fitting.

Summary

Postby GeoffSmith » Tue 25.04.2006, 19:52

Just so everyone is aware of the current situation, Peco have offered us a 2¼" system from pre-cat housing to tailpipe of your chosing. There is a flexible section close to the flange, it uses stainless grade T304 and all joints are TIG welded. The two main tailpipe choices are oval with central round section aka standard or straight oval similar to OEM aka circumcised.

Current offer from Peco : David wrote:Prices for M100 exhaust systems:- 1 - £325.00 carriage £15.00
2-4 £292.50 carriage £20.00
5+ £276.25 carriage free

Anybody want to come to Birkenhead and have it fitted, i'll do it FOC.

Before & after power run on the rolling road £50.00

People began suggesting they would buy one at £250, so I have collected the names of those interested to put to David. If Peco can make a better offer for a larger number (say £250 for 10+ and £225 for 20+), they stand to make more sales (there are ~14 at the moment) and we stand to save a bit of money (towards an Everest or Stiffy perhaps - any group discounts  - joke - from what I read stevo and ESM are subsidising us!).

My requirement is probably the most urgent (hence co-ordination role) but my bandages are holding up well. I intend to leave it until next week, to give as many people as possible the opportunity of registering interest, before seeing if I can get in contact with David.

Maniflow,

sorry for the dealy but i been on holiday, & am only back for the day, took the Elan into Maniflow today, he can do a 2 1/4 inch system for £250, or a 2 1/2 inch for £310 if there is 10 orders, the grade of stainless is T304 that is for the se from the pre-cat housing, with an oval pipe as fitted as standard, this would be slightly bigger than standard.

The pipe would have no squish as he would bend a pipe to use the space above.

I think if you are going for 2 1/4 i think the peco will work out cheaper as i did not discuss P&P. The 2 1/2 i think is worth i think, this is the size i want & the 1 Maniflow reommended.

If peeps require any other info i am back on wednesday next week.

Geoff,

Sorry to say u`ll have to remove Mine & Dico from the list as Dico has just been quoted £285 for a 2 1/2" from a Powerflow in Bolton and he`s having it fitted next friday so since i was really after the 2 1/2 i`ll be going to the same place + it`s a little closer to home.

When you visit can you find out how much to get one delivered?

Thanks

To be honest Ailwin i think the vehicle has to be on site to get a true fit.
Try here and click on your area. Prices may vary area to area though. I did'nt really want to comment on it untill i had had it fitted, just to be sure everythings ok. And also we're perhaps delaying the 2 1/4" Peco group buy. Sorry :?

More feedback from an eBay member in the US:
I generally satisfied with the quality. The bends are smooth and without crimps. All required gaskets and hangers were included. The exhaust tone is smooth and quient enough for conversation while driving. My model they sent me did not fit my catalytic converter. It took them two months and two deliveries to provide me with the proper pipes. Even then, I had to do some cutting and welding to fit my cat. I don't know if my catalytic converter was original, so the pipes they sent my have been correct. I'm quessing that things would have been fine if I had a non-catalytic model.

Sorry to be loosing you Dico/Monty and Stevie. :( No hard feelings. :)

There has been no feedback from David and I've found out he is probably out of the office until next Wednesday. I've had a quick look at Powerflow and Maniflow who both make made to measure systems. Powerflow have a network of 70 approved dealers and they also do a 2½" system, which seems quite reasonably priced up in the Midlands (Bolton). I wonder if LEC may be better served by them if they can offer similar prices nationwide (see you in Newport Ailwyn?) with perhaps a bit of discount if we can co-ordinate it.

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, please let them be known.

Geoff

PS A couple of question for the Manchester United (Monty/Dico): Which tailpipe options are you going for and what bend radius can Emma achieve on her hydraulic bending machine :-D ?

Hi all,

before you all go mad and order powerflow 2.5" exhaust systems, you should find out if the system is made with mandrel bends. If it is made with compression bends then the diameter will be reduced on the bend.

Anybody with one of these systems already fitted then I wil be glad to do a back to back test on our rolling road and lets find out what the difference really is.
